We used to use a similar setup but now we use this:

Travel Berkey & Stainless Steel Spigot Bundle Sale

That looks great but I am trying to save counter and storage space.  Plus the idea of the the entire water system is enticing.
We have been not drinking from the main water tank and hauling around drinking water jugs and that's a pain and takes up space.

I love this filter. I subscribe to have them send replacement filters every 6 months. Great service.

That's good to know.
The company is 30 miles from where I live also.

WATER FILTER

At a fraction of the cost I chose Amazon.com: Beech Lane External RV Dual Water Filter System, Leak-Free Brass... does a similar job.  The water filter store version comes with 1 and 1/2 micron filters.  The Beech Lane one comes with 5 and 1/2 micron filters although any filter of the same size can be used.

I have mine installed in the large compartment behind the drivers door in my RB.  It is sturdily attached, but removable if I chose to use it outside of the compartment.  I'll add a picture tomorrow.

I like to keep things as simple as possible but still meet a need. We most always use the onboard water tank for all our drinking/cooking needs. Before and after a long storage I sanitize the fresh water tank by filling maybe 3/4 full adding bleach (I don't measure, I just pour some in, usually a cup or two. I run the water to the kitchen sink and wait until I smell the chlorine and turn off the pump. I let it sit overnight and then drain and flush the water system. Then it's off on a trip. I have never had any issues with the sanitation of the fresh water tank.
For many years I have ALWAYS filtered the incoming water (both tank and city connect) with a single canister filter (see pix) inline with the hoses. I bought the parts at a hardware store for attaching the hoses to the filter. The ball valve on the input side is handy for water on/off control. After use, I drain the filer and put a cap and plug in the hose fittings and store the filter in an outside compartment set aside for all fresh water hose and parts. I just learned from another LD owner of the Flexzilla drinking water hose. I really liked several features and have traded out all my old hoses. What I like is the cold weather flexibility, softer surface so it won't scratch the top corner paint of the LD roof when washing up there, and non kinking. It also comes in several different lengths. Each end swivels making it easier to make connections. The female connector uses a standard size "O" ring as a washer. I think that will have a better chance staying put. Bought mine from Amazon.
The reason for filtering is mainly to prevent any sediment from outside water sources getting into the LD plumbing. That is not good for the pump and valves. The carbon based filters do help some with taste.
Another compartment close to the sewer drain is used for sewer hose accessories and power cables and adaptors.

Thanks.
I'm wondering if the one I posted is $100 better in quality. It doesn't look like it.

I'm with Linda.   I brought the parts saved the $$$ for other projects.    A filter is a filter.   I do use RV Water when I'm home but I have brought filters at Home Depot and other large box stores on the road.

Now I am also considering the inline Camco type blue filter and something like a BRITA drinking water filter pitcher or the Travel Berkey as was suggested.

I've heard that Camco's blue filter is a 20 micron filter.  The Clear2O green version is a 5 micron filter.

As promised, here is a photo of my setup.  I used L brackets to reinforce the edge and hung the filter system on two screws.  I made a shelf to keep it from bouncing and to protect the filter from other items sliding into them.  It is totally removable by just lifting it off of the screws.

I am considering a couple of shorter hoses like Mike has, but for now I have two 25ft ones.

?. The filters just sit on the ground or lean on tire. I have used from start. Always have delicious water. I haven't tried other filters for comparison though.

Linda, my filter setup is similar to yours but I don't have them mounted (wish the MB had that big compartment the RB has!).  I have mine loose in a plastic tote with all the other fresh water accessories in the rear driver side compartment.  Because it's a double filtering system, it takes a long time when filling up the FW tank, something I discovered as a disadvantage at the Morro Bay meet as people behind me had to wait awhile while I was filling up at the dump station.  I just put one the single blue Camco filters in my fresh water tote for occasions when there are folks waiting behind me.

We use the camco filter also to fill our main water tank.  We have sanitized the tank and system every year or so but we do not drink the tank water, we also bring about 10 gallons in 1 gallon jugs and a 4 gallon container and it is a pain and takes up valuable space and adds weight.  We would like to add a fresh water filter system that fits under the kitchen sink and could filter the tank water with its own spigot.  Has anyone used these?

Hi Liam;  I've been shopping for a water delivery system for drinking and cooking, and found this  Amazon.com: Everpure EV9275-60 QL2-OCS 2 System: Home Improvement
Made by the same people as my new water pump.  The small size and .5 micron filter caught my eye for my TK's confined space.

I am now considering the high flow cheap filter like the Camco for filling the water tank or when on city water and a more intense under-the-sink filter for drinking water.

This would involve adding another sink spigot I presume?

Anyone have this type of setup and how do you like it?

I want the quick tank filling the Camco would provide rather than a slower whole RV filter system and then I would filter it more for drinking at the sink. That's my reasoning for not having a whole RV system plus I wouldn't need to be quite as diligent with the storage tank sanitation.

Frankly, I don't find the whole system all that slow. I can watch birds or do other tasks while filling. I would rather have all water filtered. That said, I fill at home and at campsites never at dump stations cause I don't like what I see sometimes. So far, I've had the luxury of time.

Time is a malleable thing. Camping is all about taking as much time as you want and knowing how to get the maximum amount.

We use a two stage filtration system to fill our holding tank, take our time filling our tank, and have a nice conversation with others at the fill station.

I also choose the best time of the day to accomplish this task. It’s easy to gauge the busiest times at the dump. I generally do the duty a day or so prior to departure. Takes the stress out of the departure process.

Taking my time.

Good advice.

A major part of my desire for an under the sink filter is I don't want to mess with worrying about sanitizing the tank and I don't want to be drinking directly from that plastic tank even if the water is filtered going in..

Hi Ted;  For whole tank filtering you could get this: Amazon.com: CLEARSOURCE ULTRA RV WATER FILTER SYSTEM - NOW WITH VIRUSGUARD...  At 40 psi it flows about 5.5 gpm, so depending on how empty your tank is, about 10 minutes or less. It is about 40 pounds. Too big and heavy for my E350 TK, but the new MB will handle it.
I know Larry W. and many others have the counter small faucet, you can see his in pictures. Ron. Thanks for the info, the size looks good also.  This solution would be nice to alleviate carrying so many water jugs although I probably bring a couple as backup just out of habit.

Now what will we be able to fit in all of that new space this would create?

Adding our experience to this older thread in case it’s helpful to others.

We wanted to filter all water going into the FW tank, after sanitizing and flushing the system, so that we could feel safer drinking the water. So, similar to (but not exactly the same as) the crazy (in my opinion) expensive options from RV Water Filter Store/Clear Source, we bought this Beech Lane system from Amazon:
Amazon.com: Beech Lane External RV Dual Water Filter System, Leak-Free Brass...

Less than $70, and the replacement filter pack is about $20. I believe this system will take the Clear Source replacement filters if I wanted to go that route.

Second filter only goes to 0.5 microns, but without going into too many details, my wife and I both have the education/degrees/training to know that we’re comfortable with that. For us. Not saying everyone needs to agree with that assessment — and everyone should do their own research and reach their own conclusions. For DRINKING, we also did a secondary (tertiary?) filtration out of the kitchen tap with a Zero Water Pitcher because we also treat the tank with Purogene.

We exclusively use the FWT for water, never using the city water connection (which has never been used in our RB, even by the original owner).

We brought bottled water for our kids, and planned to use that for all of their drinking water, but ended up just giving them the same water we were drinking.

Everything worked really well, the water tasted great, and it was all set up with quick connects and the filter rack and hoses were all kept in a milk crate to make it easy. Kept that in the front driver’s side storage in our RB. Filling the FWT didn’t seem to take much longer, even with a pressure regulator attached to the spigot.

When we got home, I examined the filters, and after 2 weeks of use, the 5 micron sediment filter was fully rust colored/brown as expected. It did it’s job. Replacement filters are cheap enough to toss since we’re not full-timers, and keeping used filters around for another few months until the next trip, even in a fridge, is too risky for me.

I hope this was helpful.

Thanks,
Jason

If in Parker, AZ swing into Spankey's. They make their own filter setups. The setups are less expensive than others out there. I have used them for years.
