1987 Lazy Daze Chevy RV 44k Miles Only k!!! - rvs - by owner -...

Poor photos but enough to show ceiling leak damage on the driverside's, front corner. Very common in these rigs.
Swell masking job. Who knows what problems lurk in the murky corners?

It's 34 years old, has a multipiece front cap that has or will leak, has a carburetor and three-speed transmission without overdrive, which wears the engine quickly.
This is a hobbyist rig for someone with a wide range of talents, are you qualified?
Did I mention it was 34 years old?

BTW, 18 years ago our 1983 22' FL sold for $8000.

$24K for that?  I was wondering, are they nuts or am I? Thanks for letting me know I'm the sane one.

It's also listed on the Sacramento Craigslist.  The phone number looks suspicious.  I smell a scam.

"I am curious if the 2000 M26 listed in St. George Utah is actually a 31'."

That rig is absolutely, without the least sniggling of doubt, a 30'IB and with the Teal/White exterior is nearly a twin of the one I own! The 31'ers did not come into existence until after my 2004.  8)

How difficult is it to convert the entertainment center back to an overhead bunk?

Hi,  From what I have read here on this forum taking the entertainment center out would compromise the structural integrity.  We have this same layout with the entertainment center and like it a lot.  We keep the sofas pulled out as daybeds which leaves maybe 16(?) inches of walkway between.  We bought a smart TV that fits the entertainment center and it is comfortable to watch TV from the daybeds.  This would not be ideal if there were more than the two of us!

"How difficult is it to convert the entertainment center back to an overhead bunk?"

Extremely!

The way Steve Newton explained it to me was: "When we are in the construction phase for a coach that will have an entertainment center, the build technique is entirely different in the cab-over because it does not have to meet the weight requirements for a sleeping compartment."

So in essence, it was never intended to be a place to sleep, but to be used only for storage and TV and DVD, etc.   ::)

Thank you.  That's surprising and really important information.  It just seemed that it would be an easy conversion back to an overhead sleeper but not as it appears.  I'm glad I found this forum and folks like you are so knowledgeable.

1970 Lazy Daze 18'
1970 Lazy Daze 18 | eBay
Quite simply the finest Class C you will possibly see outside of a museum, this low mileage all original 1970 Lazy Daze 18' Class C Motorhome is ready for adventures!

Built on a Ford Econoline E300 Custom chassis with just over 31,000 original miles, she is ready to drive anywhere across the country.

This very early example of a Lazy Daze motorhome was discovered in Wisconsin, born out of the original family's desire to travel to NASCAR events in style. And after serving faithfully for many years, she was retired and put out to pasture and forgotten. It was then she was discovered and shipped to sunny Southern California where she underwent a careful restoration, mindful to retain her amazing originality while preparing her for a return to the road and to service as a family RV.

And originality is what you will find with this RV. The original 302 V8 motor does not drip a drop of fluids, she is tight and starts easily with the turn of a key. The motor and transmission have been serviced and updated where necessary. New carburetor, alternator, water pump, fuel pump, cap and rotors, wires and plugs. She shifts smoothly as her SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic transmission has not seen many miles, works as new. New tires and new brakes, new master cylinder and new brake lines stop her on dime safely.

No detail has been missed on this amazing rig: from the 16" dealer option Wimbledon White camper mirrors to the CB on the dash, to the very rare original Lazy Daze logo on the front of the cabin, she is a show winner and workhorse.

Interior updates include a new water pump, new hot water heater, new electric flush porta-potti, new upper cabin mattress. You will find the original floors, silk curtains, upholstery and paneling to be in superb condition. All original appliances are clean and work as they should. A propane Duo-Therm furnace keeps the main cabin very toasty on a cold night, the Dometic 2-way fridge gets very cold, and the stove and oven are in beautiful condition and work wonderfully.

There are two sleeping areas: above the cab is a very comfortable Nest Bedding queen size mattress and original ladder to access. The rear dinette folds into a full size sleeping area. The original room divider separates the the two sleeping areas for privacy. A generous bathroom with separate stand up shower makes for a very comfortable environment when camping for the weekend.

Water is supplied by either a city water connection or 20 gallon water tank and onboard 12v water pump. The hot water heater also runs off 12v and will provide a very nice hot shower. Two portable updated propane tanks are found in an easily accessible outdoor compartment and fuel the heater, fridge, stove and hot water heater. There is also a new deep cycle house battery which charges while the RV is running. Lights throughout the coach are both 12v and 110v so  you are never in the dark. And there is ample storage and a very generous closet. Under both rear dinette seats are doors to access the undercarriage storage or also access them by the outside doors.

There are many little things that you just don't find on modern coaches: from the original glitter linoleum, the glitter in the counters and the dinette table, the silk curtains, the combo spice shelf/fan/hood light, indoor outdoor thermometer, floral wall clock, magazine rack, etc. You can take her to a vintage car or van show, vintage camping event, or just live the RV life. Full awning and matching cabana included in the sale.

All work has been performed by a licensed mechanic and receipts can be supplied to the next caretaker of this amazing machine. So many little things! The vintage dual bumper mounted bike rack...RARE! The original leather seats; taken apart, new springs and foam, and carefully reassembled. New batteries, top of the line. A brand new NOS front grille was sourced, never installed until now. LED headlights, new brake and tail lights, power coated bumper, the list goes on.

Bid with confidence and jump in and driver her home.

Just about every part of an LD is structural, considering how LD screws and glues every interior cabinet or couch into the coach's framing, forming an extremely strong and stiff structure. This is the reason why so many older LDs, with rot, continue to be used, the excess strength keeps the body from falling apart...for a while.
