Fuses Confusion
What kind of blade fuses are being used in my Lazy Daze?

I do have "regular" blade fuses, which apparently are correctly being called ATO fuses or ATC fuses (and these two kinds seem to be interchangeable).

I bought about a gazillion of regular blade fuses for about $10 when I replaced the converter. I probably could also have bought less fuses for more money - but who knows how many thousands of other Lazy Daze owners who need such a fuse I will meet on the road in the next 100 years?

Later I found out that I can't use the fuses I have for my truck - the Ford wants to have "mini" fuses. Are all Ford E-450 fuses regular "mini" fuses,  or are some of them maybe "low profile" mini fuses?

I want to buy another gazillion of fuses for the Ford - but I would prefer to get a set that covers all potentially needed blade fuses in my rig. Or are there fuses sets available that not only cover the different blade fuses but also other fuses that I might need one day?

Non-confusing fuses tips would be appreciated!

Why not get a variety selection of mini's on Amazon or the like.
I have used the mini's for the larger ones, but it does not work the other way around.

There are also larger fuses--several sizes, as I recall--in a separate fusebox under the hood. They are less likely to blow than the ones you're talking about, but it wouldn't hurt to have spares on hand. As Don said, buy an assortment.

Every vehicle and RV has its own range of fuses and it's a good idea to carry a few of each size. Yes, they cost a few bucks but if one blows while you are in the middle of nowhere, the costs become irrelevant.
You will find LD's coach fuses in a variety of places, under the hood, under the dash, in the battery box, in the Power Center, and don't forget the hidden circuit breaker. The Fantastic Fans have their own glass fuses. The refrigerator's control board has two fuses.

The chassis fuses are located under the dash and in the power distribution box under the hood. Their location, sizes, and function should be found in the Ford Owner's Manual.

You can also get a large assortment of fuses at Harbor freight for a few bucks.

When it comes to fuses, are the ones you find in bulk just as good as name brand fuses such as Buss or Blue Sea?

Joan, Interesting video, thanks for sharing.  I wonder why he didn't increase the current on each to see when each actually blew.  That, after all, is the bottom line.

This Bussmann-Cooper pack contains 5 ea. of 3A -30A blade fuses; most packs don't contain 3A fuses. I don't know if there's a need for 40A fuses in the LD, but I'm sure that someone does know and will say so one way or the other!

It seems every car we buy has one or more different types of fuses, requiring searching the new types out and buying a few in the sizes used in that car. Every few years, new fuse types come along. My collection is a couple of hundred fuses, in a dozen different types, ranging from 2-amps to 100-amps. Every few years, new fuse types come along.
Each of our vehicles has a bag of spare fuses, of the correct types and amperage ratings used.

if you want to know what fuses are used in your LD, start with the owner's manual and keep looking, LD has added a few outside the Power Center, such as for a CB radio, the dash radio, and electric steps or in the Power Center where the solar fuse is often found.
What is fused are used and their location varies over the years and floorplans. Refer to our recent group search for the hidden circuit breaker, for an example.

This are "normal" size blade fuses of which I have anyway plenty. They are being used in the coach power center.

The Ford fuses (in the driver footwell) are "mini" blade fuses, and I have ordered some in the meantime.

Besides that I also have a box with all kinds of bulbs and fuses in one of my storage compartments which I got together with the Lazy Daze. Laurie, the previous owner, kept the rig well prepared for all kinds of things. I'm still happy and grateful that I could buy the RV from her.

With all the fuses that I have now I am hopefully also prepared for many things - it's probably not really possible to be prepared for everything.

There is a whole separate thread on the 'hidden 12v fuses/breakers' if that's what you mean. And if it is, check this out: The Lazy Daze Companion: The Hidden 12V Breaker

Oh that one!  in our 98~MB that trip fuse is the back of the battery box since it is on the passenger side under the rear dinette seat.

  Thanks Chris
