This is a great idea.
I will get one as soon as the installation of powered electrical outlets in the backcountry's trees and rocks is complete.
Shouldn't take too long, should it?

From the article (there is a word missing between 'not' and '800 volt')

"Jeep does not 800-volt charging for the concept, but doesn't list things like range or charging time, unfortunately, and we should note that this concept is far from production-ready."

Jeep has released a 2021 Wrangler hybrid with a turbocharged 4-cylinder charging the batteries.  They say it can run 21 miles on batteries alone.  Kind of a short off-road day... be sure to have enough gas to limp home.

A big advantage of a hybrid is it doesn't have to "limp home", and typically offers a range that exceeds a similar, gas-only vehicle; for example, the Prius Prime has a 25 mile battery-only range, and 640 mile total range. For an off-road vehicle, the electric motor(s) may give it superior low speed power and control, both very desirable in challenging terrain.

I owned a hybrid Toyota Highlander for 7 years. Hybrids are great for stop and go driving. LSo with that in mind, I believe a electric Jeep for 4 wheeling is a good idea. My Highlander had plenty of power.

Interesting that they are showing it at Moab. Both an electric and their diesel have more torque than a gas engine. However, they both weigh more than the gas. Not good for sand.

I’m sure Elon will have thousands of Supercharger stations spaced every 100 miles or so across the vast open expanse of backcountry, BLM & forest roads across North America in a matter of no time.   Right?!? 😉

For what it's worth, Jeep recently announced that they will be installing charging stations at trailheads nationwide, powered either by the grid or by solar panels. Sounds a bit far-fetched to me (what's the business plan?), but that's what they claim.
