Has it been garaged or has it sat outside, unattended for long periods?I would want to give a rig that age a very thorough inspection, it has been inactive for most of its life.Even with low miles, the various seals still need to be maintained, as well as the chassis. The engine's hoses and belts should be changed, age causes as much damage as actual use. The brake system can develop problems with rust if the brake fluid has not been changed periodically.Larry 3 Likes
Re: Non-member Classified Listings for 2021 Reply #3 – December 31, 2020, 01:25:28 pm For me that goes without saying...I stated it was a.fair price he was asking. It is up to the individual to do ALOT of research and inspect or having inspected. I know how to inspect an rv but many folks do not. I won't even look at an older rv at a low or high price if they do not have adequate maint records. It is best to walk away than buy a pig in a poke. When I see 20 year old rvs with asking prices almost at the new purchase price I just walk away. I might be curious and call to see if they have had the roof resealed at the factory, new tran, new engine, new diff, new ac top and engine, new suspension, all new hoses, water pump, radiator....the dreaded spark plugs replaced...new fridge, new upholstery, carpet, vinyl.......because this is what the 2nd or 3rd owner is up against when buying...have 10 or 15k in reserves for repairs....when younger I made the mistakes so many have made on this site....so it come from experience. ...but my advise is keep saving, do you research, get with a friend who has an rv watch them do maintenace . Learn all you can because it will be a learning experience...no matter how much you learn. 5 Likes

Re: Non-member Classified Listings for 2021 Reply #6 – December 31, 2020, 06:18:28 pm The model number M26, if correct, indicates a 26 ft. Multiplan. The dealer may be confused as it does look like a 30 ft. model.
Re: Non-member Classified Listings for 2021 Reply #7 – December 31, 2020, 07:27:00 pm It is a 30 foot island bed. The 26 foot island bed has the entry door right behind the passenger seat. The couch is a short couch that pulls out across the entry door. The shower is not as wide. At the foot of the bed the corners are not right angles, they are 45. There are some YouTube videos on the layout of the 26 footer with the island bed.

The 31'ers did not come into existence until after my 2004. 1 Likes

Re: Non-member Classified Listings for 2021 Reply #24 – February 07, 2021, 05:10:42 am No sign of a generator. Just a 'porta-potty' in the shower. The same chassis as my previous motorhome, a 1979 Dodge Sportsman. Mine was a 1980 model year Lindy. 360 CID (5.9 liter) engine. Carbureted. Carter Thermoquad maybe. I replaced with a spreadbore Holley. (legal in California) Regular gas, about 7-8 mpg. This one at high altitude (Denver) could have had the metering jets replaced, and might need changing for lower or sea level operation. Three speed Auto. There was an optional engine, the 440 CID. A bored out 360-3 engine. Very powerful. I know that engine cover well. I had that motorhome for 12 years. (good times). Easy to remove engine cover and good access to the engine. It is amazing how little is changed compared to my '99. This is a TK. The sink surface is the same except this one has a stainless sink, I've got plastic. Upright removable propane tank. I've got an ASME horizontal tank. 4 burner stove, I've got 3. No mention of solar, batteries, LED lights, but the inside does look pretty good for a 40 year old MH. As Linda said obvious water damage to the roof. It is unlikely to have dash air, or roof air, but that looks like a Rec-Air swamp cooler. The spring set made for a very stiff ride in back. At $5000, lets say you could get it for $4000, it looks like it has been well taken care of (relatively speaking). Don't buy this unless you have experience as a DIY, don't mind working on the roof, and some time (make that lots of time) to do repairs yourself. Paying someone to work on it isn't a reasonable option. It could have many mechanical issues, but the Dodge chassis was pretty good. From a simpler age it was easier to repair. You would need to find an older mechanic. Torque on the wheel lug nuts was spec'd at 450 foot pounds! (design of the lug nuts) and 'R' stamped into the lug screws on the driver side wheels. I was lucky, the wheels could take radial tires. Not many 16.5" tires around. First thing I would do is get a spare tire mount and spare lug screws and nuts. Both types. RonB 1 Likes
