Removing a Satellite Dish December 31, 2020, 01:59:05 pm The discussion on the escape hatch removal prompted my memory of this. Bossa Nova came with a factory installed satellite dish (the manual type). I will probably never use it so was thinking of removing it. The easiest way would be to remove the dish section only and leave the mount and roof penetration as is, if possible. I haven’t taken a close look at it yet. Alternatively, removing the whole shebang is an option. Any recommendations on which way to go?

Re: Removing a Satellite Dish Reply #2 – December 31, 2020, 04:18:08 pm Hi Greg; I'd recommend doing nothing to the antenna. There isn't much to go wrong, until you start fiddleing with it. If you do plan on using it for TV, replace it with an autofinding dome antenna. If you need the real estate on the roof for solar panels, that would justify removing the antenna. Removing the entire TV-sat dish and base was a fair amount of work, because its base is a big metal casting. Unless you need the roof space, as I did, I'd suggest removing just the dish assembly but not the base. I don't remember the details, but that should not be too hard to do. 1 Likes

Crank Up - Manual.I don't think the original Wingard Sat system was ever connected or used. All of the cables appear to be present.I would really consider that upgrade if it didn't present an install nightmare. Or a fortune in labor. Price for the upgraded system is what it is.Cheers!
