Banner Photo Requirements
A member asked me recently what the requirements for a banner photo are. A general list follows. I do say general because I usually do some cropping, sizing, enhancing, etc., depending on the photo.

  • Best to have the scene be in mostly sunlight
  • Full pixel strength for best resolution
  • Scenic setting, i.e., postcard candy
  • Attractive, interesting background - water, mountains, foliage, forests, etc.
  • Cropable horizontally so as to fit banner format and still show a nice background as well as the Lazy Daze
  • Shows off a Lazy Daze

Please don't be offended if I don't use your photo. Sometimes they just won't work.

Chris,
Sometimes when a post here is forwarded to my Google email address that shows up in my Mac Mail folder there is a lot of nonsense additional text that is not in the original posting on this group site. I am showing this in the below text copied from my received email from this group and pasted here. Do you have any idea what causes this?

Victor, that looks great. I searched Lowes for "Jamestown Oak" but couldn't
find that specific color. Do you have a more specific link to it? I really
like that color. What kind of an [/color]installation company did you
use|?|&lt/span>

Most of those funny characters look like BBCode (bulletin board code), probably automatically inserted when the post was made and exposed when parts of the post were cut and pasted into an email.  BBCode is similar to HTML and provides a way to do text formatting "behind the scene".

The other explanation is in gmail there is a default option for html or plain text  email.   Those characters maybe google formatting for the html option.   Google mail and Apple mail have never played well together.

HTML uses angle brackets "<>" to identify control sequences, while BBCode uses square brackets "[]", so I believe that it is BBCode segments that are exposed.  Most modern email readers will render properly formatted HTML  in the email, but BBCode sequences are likely to be displayed as text.
