Flooring going in 2006 MB
Flooring going in today. It’s going to look pretty good when it’s all trimmed up. I’ll post completed pics later today if they finish it.
Vinyl plank, from Lowes, “Jamestown Oak” is the color.

Are you gluing this flooring down on the raw plywood, or is there an underlayment?

The flooring has a built in underpayment and sound deadening layer, so no underlay. Flooring guys have done a bunch of RVs, they recommended no glue, just a good fit with a 1/8” gap around the perimeter. They will put in a 3/8” flexible trim around it when they finish, I’ll post pics when they’re finished.

Victor, that looks great. I searched Lowes for "Jamestown Oak" but couldn't find that specific color. Do you have a more specific link to it? I really like that color. What kind of an installation company did you use?

I misspoke, the brand is ProCore Plus and the color is Jamestown hickory.
I had a local tile guy that I’ve used before do it. There’s really no difference between a house and an RV. Materials $295. Labor $500.

Honestly I don’t know if the original vinyl was glued down or not, the flooring guys pulled it up. Sorry.

When I removed the carpet and lino in my LD, the carpet was held down by numerous staples.  The lino was thoroughly glued down and took a fair amount of time to remove with a 5 in 1.  Luckily there wasnt a lot of lino to remove.  I installed sheet lino, one piece from front to back of a 30 ft LD.  It was glued down and I used caulking at the edges.  At the time, my flooring installer recommended against the plank flooring due to the high temperatures in Arizona.

It seems that there are few jobs that I have done my LD that I wouldnt do differently in the future.  And the replacement of the flooring is one of them.  But this is partly due to some new materials that have come out in lvp flooring.  At the time, I was going to use plank and glue it, which is not highly recommended, but can be done.  But my installer said the amount of labor would be high and he preferred roll goods.  I picked out a good grade of lino from my flooring supplier and away we went.  It still seems remarkable that my installer could take a 12ft wide x 27ft long piece of lino and install it without one seam.  But that is the case, an experienced installer with a sharp knife is a wonder to behold.

In any case, I do have one seam and that is at the floor junction with the raised platform for the toilet.  At the time that I put lino in the LD,  I hadnt tackled the teardown and rebuild of the toilet.  After I removed the toilet and did the rebuild (a disgusting job), I had my installer come back and put in the small amount of lino on the platform.  I then covered the seam at the floor/platform with a piece of 1"x3" oak and built a ledge for my feet.  If you have ever sat on the toilet in a 30ft LD, you will find that your feet do not reach the floor unless you are tall. This oak ledge solved that issue.

The installer charged me $500 total for two visits and the lino was $1000.  If I had used plank and did the install myself, the cost would have been much lower.  That is probably what I would do in the future.

I solved that problem by cutting to shape a ¾" thick piece of plywood to raise the floor level and covered it with a small throw rug.  ;D   ;)
