Bunk bed widths
I will be traveling with my tall 6'2" son, and was thinking he could take the upper bunk above the driver's seat, as I am elderly and need the back bed area for myself.  But it just occurred to me that I am not sure how much room would be up there for him, as he measures 74" and would need a few additional inches for comfort (can't have his head touching along with his feet)  I am interested in a used one if possible, and trying to find one that has the two rear jack knife sofas, either the 23" or 27".  I don't know if this width changes from year to year or model to model.

Do any of you know this, and if so what are the interior dimensions of the sleeping area.  I am 5'8", but at 79 yrs. my bunk jumping days are over (coupled with my night visits to the bathroom averaging at least 2 times a night)

Hello Modhatter (do you have a name?) This link to the Lazy Daze Inc. site shows all the specs including bed sizes. Welcome to Lazy Daze Owners' Group. http://www.lazydaze.com/FEATURES.PDF

The widths have not changed for a long time and are the same for all models. This link will show you changes through the years: Lazy Daze Pocket Guide

The over cab bed is considered a short queen, 60" width by 75" heigh. it's a short one, since a normal one is 80" heigh.

However there is also a storage compartment that if removed could be an additional 10" heigh. Also you could just lay the pillows on top of the storage compartment instead of removing it ;)

As for the bed floor to ceiling, it's 26.5", so subtract the thickness of the bed cushion which originally I believe was 5" (we replaced ours with a 4" thick mattress)

The overcab bed is quite usable for taller people.  If the 75" length is too short, you can put your pillows on the storage compartment, or you can sleep at an angle.

Thank you all very much.  I did click on that link provided, but apparently I was looking for prices at that time  I was able to find the outside dimensions of 80" but figured there was some lost to insulation, framing, etc.  The pillow over that compartment should be doable.  Thank you again  Now my search continues.

Modhatter, your 74” son will have no problems in the overhead cab as the length of the area, not including the shallow storage cabinet, is 80.”  Both the mattress and storage cabinet are 4” deep, so they are flush, which gives an additional 15” of length.  Width is 55.” See the attached photos.  However, if he weighs 400 lbs., that might be a problem! 😁
