Questions about RV age
I recently book at stay in Private RV Park up on the Oregon coast for April 2021. Day after booking I got a call asking year of LD. When I said 2004 I was told new management took over park are asking to see a picture of LD. I sent one.  Next day I got a call telling me everything ok and they’d see me in April.

Has this happened to any of you?

Sad that these campgrounds are being picky but then I guess it would keep a bad looking rv out of their park. I have to lie about the age of mine since it is going to be 21 years old.... and yes I did send a picture and was accepted...

Years ago, I was at South Beach State Park in Oregon.  Next to me was a motor home in BAD shape.  They had a blue tarp tied over their roof to deal with leaks.  Their side door was held in place by rope.  One of their basement cabinets had no door on it.  (No, it was NOT a LD!)  Can I see a private CG telling them they were not welcome?  Yep.  I felt like I was camped next to Jed and Granny Clampett.  I had noticed in my earlier years, when I made more use of commercial CG's, that a number of them limited the age of rigs to 10 years.  That seems rather arbitrary to me, but I can see maintaining an aesthetic standard.

"...a number of them limited the age of rigs to 10 years."

That is quite common in the Palm Springs area... got to keep up appearances, no? Don't want any trash in our park!  ::)

I don't know who came up with the 10-year rule; like many "numbers", it's a completely arbitrary standard, but having the policy stated up front does give the RV park "leverage" to select its clientele. I've never been turned away from a place with my 17-year-old LD (not that I often stay in RV parks), but I do understand why an RV park would want to have a CYA "rule" in place to exclude run-down, blue tarp, beater rigs.

YMMV.

If asked I say 8 years old. Non-culters can't tell the difference. Most of us don't have junkers.

The one or two times I have been asked the year of our LD, in campgrounds with age limitation, I subtract 10 years.
As Chris said, people unfamiliar with LDs can't tell how old they are, assuming the paint is still in good shape, clean and waxed..

Thank you all for chiming in.

I want to be able to use my LD 04 30’ IB well in to my retirement which has not started yet. I’m a lucky girl 🍀 that my dad “Lazy Bones” has passed the keys onto me. I’ve been taught to keep things in working order and looking nice all my life. Adjusting the year would be easier and cheaper than buying new one and selling this one. 😁🚐

Had this happen to me YEARS ago in Yuma when I was still driving my 1990 MP, "Blue".   The office asked the age and make.. "OH, A LAZY DAZE"??!!!  They all look old, you're okay!!

We can do that too with our own ages, right Larry?! 😉
