Progressive RV Insurance Tip
Since many of you use Progressive, I thought I'd share this story with you. I've had my LD insured with Progressive for 15 years and annually have experienced nominal premium increases. Upon receipt of my new premium, I noticed it had increased $295. The bulk of the increase was for the Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury - combined single limit each accident category, an increase of 219%. The pleasant first phone contact renewal agent told me that the increase was due to excessive/increase in claims/payouts in my ZIP code. I transferred to the next person up the line who told me the underwriters had reassessed my area last Sept. I told her I would probably shop around to see if any other insurance company employed such aggressive underwriters. Because my policy had not been reworked in 15 years, she proceeded to start fresh and ultimately determined that I was overinsured in the uninsured motorist category, especially because I carry umbrella insurance with USAA with whom Progressive partners. After a comprehensive rework of my policy, my new premium dropped $295, coincidently the same amount as the new premium increase.

I pass this on just in case there are any of you who might not have studied your policies over the years to see if there might be some savings. I credit the Progressive agent for diligently doing her job and looking out for Progressive's clients.

"I carry umbrella insurance with USAA."

Smart move Chris, I wholly endorse USAA. Not so Progressive, for political reasons!

Even so, I've been a lifetime State Farm member, even though I do not like some of their  business policies.   :(

Yes, thank you. We have USAA for all our cars, we called for the LD and they use Progressive. I thought it was a good price. This is our first year, insured it in November 2019.

Update: In looking at the #s again, I slightly misspoke. The new contested premium was $256 more than last period’s premium. After writing a new policy, the new reworked premium was $295 less than the new premium - the one I contested. The new final premium, based on the rewritten policy, was $39 less than last year’s premium.

We have never used Progressive but will take a look at them for our future LD. We use AAA for the cars and USAA for home insurance (AAA would not insure our home because we are in a wildland fire area).  The last few years, we have gotten quotes from USAA for auto insurance but, even with the multi-policy discount from our home insurance, AAA has the better rate so have stayed with them.

We’ve had AAA insurance for our ‘06 TK from the start. We’ve stayed with AAA because the premiums have stayed reasonable AND because they continue to cover us for comprehensive and collision at a stated value equal to the original purchase price. Our car, by contrast, on the same policy, is only covered for actual cash value. If someone uninsured clobbers me or if the rig burns down, I “should” be in great shape. I hope!  — Jon

We just got a quote from Progressive on a 2021 LD 27 midbath for 766 a year. Is that a good price?

My new premium is $572 in ZIP code 80027, Louisville, CO and the LD is 18 yrs old. I used $20,000 as replacement cost.

JMO, but there are too many variables among vehicle insurance costs to determine "What's a good price?" What one person pays to insure his/her Lazy Daze may not be anywhere close to what another pays; costs vary widely on whatever "numbers" the particular insurer uses to calculate. The age and value of the vehicle, the location where the vehicle is insured, the types and amounts of coverages, the driver's or drivers' record(s), specific inclusions/exclusions, deductibles, and maybe even the alignment of the stars, all factor into determining policy costs.

One needs to shop and compare coverages and costs for his/her individual situation, and, as far as possible, also research how quickly and efficiently the insurer services a claim. Insurance costs, coverages, and service are not a "one size fits all" deal.

As always, YMMV.
