Can a LD Owner tell me the difference between years
When purchasing a used LD, can a LD owner please call me and tell me the difference between a 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020.
I use to own a 2002 LD MB 26 1/2 but since then I have not followed the changes.
Does the ford chassis change?
Exterior paint change in what year?
or are their other major changes.
Thanks

The legroom was not increased, the added 6” was in the big, manly chrome grill, 6”s of fluff IMO.
There were improvements in the brakes, steering, the GVW was raised 450-lbs and the GCVW was raised 2000-lbs.

How come this is not something on wikipedia where it can be aggregated by others over time?

Does Lazy Daze company take it down for copyright issues or something?

I’m not sure the mothership knows what Wikipedia is.  They are a rather old school company  :)

Exactly the info I've been looking to find.  Specifically the diesel engines. Most recent year was 2005.  I did email LD to see if diesel was an optional upgrade and they told me no.  And of last month, there is still a two year wait.
Long time Lazy Daze fan. I'm finally about to be able to buy my first.  Looking for a 23.5 front lounge. If you are in the St. Louis area and are willing to give me a tour of yours, no matter what the size, even if it's not for sale, please contact me.

the diesel option in the Ford cut away was not much of an option.  It added a bunch of weight over the front axel.  Due to space restrictions inside the E series vans the engine was not able to have the same state of tune when compared to the same engine in the F series trucks.  The V10 actually was pound for pound a better choice.  Note, the V10 in the E series vans is also less powerful when compared to the same block used in the F series trucks.  This is for the same reason, lack of space.
So while a diesel is often a better choice for a work truck, that is not always the case and the Ford E 450 and E 350 is a good example.

You are spot-on. The last diesel Ford offered in the E-Series was the Navistar VT365 V8 (Ford PowerStroke) 6.0 L (365 cu in) turbocharged OHV 4V V8. The space restrictions inherent in E-Series engine compartment required Ford to delete the intercooler that was used on all their other applications of this engine. So, most of the performance improvements this engine was capable of were severely neutered. Given this and the weight penalty it carried it wasn't a very good trade-off. If I recall correctly, going to the diesel also required changing to a propane generator since a diesel generator would have been too large and heavy to be used.

Are there any members here that own or have owned one of these rarities?

My wife and I live in Tucson, Arizona. We have been looking (and researching) to purchase a motorhome in the near future. We have narrowed it down to a Lazy Daze 24' FD or TK. Since everyone in this group has an extensive amount of knowledge (and appears to be super helpful), we have the following question: Would you recommend purchasing new or what year is the best to own (if time or money was not an issue)? Thank you very much for any information.

Sam

You already answer your question.
Order a new one.

Hi Wingersky;   The newer the better.  The general strategy is to get on the list for a new one.  During the year or so before you have to come up with a nonrefundable deposit, you try to see what floorplan you want in person. Sometimes you can find a lightly used  one for sale.  It depends on color, options, condition and mileage, but mostly how tolerant you are with what is available.  (Age, miles, condition, location and price)
I bought new after a year or so of looking for a relatively new one. In the days before this group, and internet in general, it was hard to locate one. Ones I did find were generally older than the one I did have (not an LD).  Six months later our blue TK arrived. No regrets, it fit in our driveway by 3 inches. A lot more fun to have it in my driveway where I could play with it more, and keep an eye on it.
At the entrance to this website are helpful links. One is changes through the years. It is a guide to what has changed, options, engines, etc. Right now, the big thing is the new engine on the E450. Many people are a little shy about ordering radically new things, but with about an 18 month wait, problems will probably have 'settled down".     RonB
