It probably didn't have a black tank.  As I recall from the model at the factory, it was a porta-potty in a very small closet.

We had a 1972 self-contained camper and it had a 5 gal black tank and NO gray water tank.   The gray water emptied via a section of hose into a bucket.   Oh, yeah, classy.      We didn't keep it long.

JMO, but committing to pay almost $60,000 bucks (or, possibly more!) for a 10-year-old rig is FLAT NUTS!  :o

It does seem like a lot, but it’s evidently a vehicle in high demand right now based on the bidding. A Mustang Shelby sells for millions. Personally, I’d rather have 60-ish Lazy Dazes but to each their own.

I don't, mean this in a flippant way, but there are people for whom time is more valuable than money.

If a person reasonably suspects that some substantial portion of their remaining traveling / retirement years have been altered by the pandemic, why not spend a portion of their nest egg to enjoy what they can while they can.  Who in that situation cares if it costs a premium?  You can’t buy more time for any price!

That’s a nice looking rig in seemingly fantastic condition.  I can see why someone snatched it up and I hope they enjoy it.  It’s not like you can roll up to the factory and just buy a new one.

Rich, I completely agree. I bought our LD new from the factory when our son was 10. He’s now 18 and starting college. In those short 8 years, we took as many summer camping trips as possible. The experiences we had as a family are priceless to me. Even if I had to pay double for our LD, I feel like it would still have been a bargain for how it bonded us as a family. Could I have gotten a SOB for considerably less? Sure, but I value quality so the price differential wasn’t an issue. Now that I’m retired and my wife is busy running her business, I take most trips alone and I feel like it’s all gravy from here on out.

On a side note: When we bought our LD, Steve was in a talkative mood and I ended up chatting with him for over three hours (rainy day right after XMAS). He told me that there was a big demand for LDs in Japan, of all places. He surmised it was because the Japanese liked smaller high quality rigs because the roads there are much tighter. He told me the average buyer there ends up paying about double what we pay here due to the tariffs, taxes, shipping etc. but they still can’t get enough LDs! I’m guessing those Japanese buyers would have no problem paying the final bid for this rig that just sold if it was all inclusive. If you want to talk overpriced goods, IMO, the high end wine market is craazzyy! Bottom line is, the final “right” price for something is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Hmmm...

This Great Buy on eBay makes me wonder how high the bidding would go on these Lazy Daze beauties (see pics).

No doubt the sellers could find a real ‘Bonanza’ coming their way. 💰💰💰

Shipping might be a bit of a problem if the location is indicated by the signs in the background. :)

Well no pictures, and even gently used, 169,000 miles is a lot. Interesting that so many coming on the market recently are complete with all of the utensils, extension cords, hoses, sheets, pots and pans etc. Obvious that the sellers are getting out of the motorhome lifestyle. I wonder if I'm missing something?  Too hard to find places to stay enroute to destinations? Again with CV19 I'd prefer to travel with my own accomodations.  Or are people who were 'on the fence' just jumping now because of the sellers market?         RonB

The ad strikes me as off a bit too.  It seems strange to write such a good description but not include pictures.

Being on Craigslist, and given the current RV market, I would proceed carefully thinking that it could be a scam....  It could also just be an owner who isn't comfortable with photos and the internet.

No way I'd send a deposit to 'hold it' or anything like that.

I'm probably wrong, but it's always important to remember that scammers are out there.

Hi Rich; I think the problem with pictures is more commonly a 'technology' gap for us older persons (me for instance). Multiple platforms, different cameras; i.e actual film, cards, cables, WiFi, bluetooth, cloud etc.  FB, Craigslist, RVtrader, other venues I've never heard of.  Someone unaccustomed to looking at ad's for other motorhomes, like someone not actually on LDOF, might not realize how crucial photos are to remote buyers.
I have friends who sold their LD by putting a sign on the dash saying 'for sale' with their phone number.  Populous areas can get away with that, if the price is good enough.  (San Diego area, southern Ca, more people have at least heard of Lazy Daze). Others have sold at Caravan Club meetings with a note on a bulletin board, actual cork boards!
While there definitely are scammers operating, fewer would bother with a poorly known brand like LD. Phone calls, and physical inspection, with documentation, etc. before any money changes hands is best. I bought a used one in my state, it was nearby, but I knew what the title and paperwork procedures were.  It was easier because the seller had the same bank we use, and his local branch was open that Saturday. He smogged it minutes before the 'sale'.     RonB

For a slightly different perspective, Ron, we are in the process of getting our '06 RB ready to sell.    Ironically, we picked up our new 1994 MB on August 1, 1994.   We have been RVing in one rig or another for 48 years.   For us, it's age.   And, yes, our rig will be very well equipped right down to the pots and pans, dishes, and plenty of extras.     Perhaps there are many of us just plain "aging out".

JuliW, you have a good point.  Nobody is getting younger.

When Orwan came into our lives, we expected to use it for 10 years before reevaluating our mobility and aging out.  (El hombre propone, pero Deo depone).   This week the number of individuals who 'aged out' prematurely hit 150K.

Something in the room with a greatly elongated proboscis of which the moderators rightly want to minimize discussion. is going to have an effect on the market, the industry, and the sort of mobile activity that many of us took for normalcy last year. That is going to have an effect.

I know people who have looked at Orwan and have said that they would like to have something of that quality who would like and appreciate a well maintained and used LazyDaze.

Maybe we could start a  "Upcoming availablity of  LDs for Family and Friends"  thread that would provide a resource to find a good home for a rig out of which the current owner has 'aged'.

When Mary was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer, I realized that with every birth certificate comes and undated death certificate.  We hadn't expected it to be executed so soon.

YMMV

1990 lazy daze 26ft class C motorhome - rvs - by owner - vehicle...

What say you, LD Lovers?

The seller on this one has someone coming to see it this afternoon, but if it's still available after I get off work today I'll be heading out to look at it as well. On the phone he told my partner that there is something wrong with the truck A/C that is not repairable. No other real details. Have any of you heard of such a thing?

Hi Dale; The one on Craigslist that sold for $65k, was a 2010 with 3300 miles on it.
Did you get the 4400 Satellite 'Dish' antenna mounted on the roof ok?  I know you were going to do that. I haven't reached that point yet.   RonB

Yes, satellite dish is mounted and working great.
$65k for that 2010 shows that prices are going up for used lazy daze. It looked like new, so, maybe a great deal.

It will be interesting to see what it goes for.
I noticed it says Pomona Ca instead of Montclair.

Yes, that’s what my ‘85 said too. At some point (in the 90’s I believe), I think the city borders were adjusted and the factory ended up in Montclair. Others here can probably tell us what happened.
