Water Pumped Out City Intake July 31, 2020, 09:09:10 am Hi everyone,This morning I filled up the fresh water tank, turned the water pump on and noticed weak water pressure. Didn’t think anything of it until I went to walk the dog and noticed water being expelled through the city water intake connection, at a high rate. Anyone experience this before or have any ideas what could be causing?

Why this has failed is the question - as it is plastic, if it broke, you could also be pumping water into the wall. You should remove the inlet and inspect for the cause of the problem. It could be as simple as debris or mineralization preventing seating of the check ball, or require replacing the inlet assembly.Steve 2 Likes

Re: Water Pumped Out City Intake Reply #4 – July 31, 2020, 06:29:19 pm Hi Joe, Steve(s) and Rich; Mine was a deteriorated o-ring. In a hurry, I just plugged it up with a brass fitting. I haven't missed it, so it still has the plug. I fill my tank, and use water from it. I'll try to fix it for the next owner. RonB 2 Likes
Re: Water Pumped Out City Intake Reply #5 – August 01, 2020, 10:27:10 pm I know this is a really simplistic answer but when we were on a long trip many miles from home every time we ran the pump water would try to squirt out the city water connection. I took the cap off, looked in the opening, stuck my finger inside and reseated the spring loaded valve. It has never given me a problem since. Probably just dumb luck! 3 Likes
Re: Water Pumped Out City Intake Reply #6 – August 04, 2020, 08:28:28 pm A cap was added to our LD's city water inlet over a decade ago, we use water from the tank and the water pump exclusively, a practice many experienced LDers use.Unless a high-end water pressure regulator is used, RV park water surges can damage an LD's water system.Larry

I ended up purchasing a screw on water valve that fit the city water intake from Home Depot in their garden section. There were two options, a plastic and metal valve. I went with the ~$6 metal valve. Hey lugged it in and it prevented water from going out the city intake and regained a little bit pressure. Bathroom sink still has some water pressure issues. I also purchased an extra water pump. Haven’t installed yet. Waiting for current pump to completely die to stay in good procrastination spirt.
Re: Water Pumped Out City Intake Reply #9 – August 06, 2020, 03:02:21 am Hi Joe. You might want to make sure that your bathroom faucet isn't nearly plugged up with mineral deposits. I don't remember if you can unscrew the aerator or not. Vinegar , or commercial chemicals can dissolve the deposits. If that was the problem you should check the other faucets, and shower head also. I seem to remember that someone here had accumulated mineral debris in the valve assembly. RonB 1 Likes
