Lazy Daze Factory...are they open?
Greetings to all!  We are doing some maintenance on our 2005 RK and needed some items from the factory.  I called the parts number but there was no answer.  (no message machine either)  Not sure how the California lockdown works as we are in Oregon.  Does anyone have any info on this?  Thanks for the assist.   Cathy Krieger

Welcome to the wonders of ordering from the factory.

They are open. But not on weekends.

I bought a part to fix a drawer in June of 2020. They stock just about everything for repairing Lazy Daze RVs including weird items such as the bracket that hold a drawer slide to the wall. They do not take credit cards but do take checks. They will fulfill the order once the check has been received.

David, just a question.  What year is your rig??  I have a 2005 RB and have broken TWO of the drawer guides.  The first I replaced with a new one from the factory (under the refrigerator).  The second we just broke in Missouri (rough gravel roads)(lower little drawer by the sink).  I'm not impressed with the fit/finish of the 2005 vs the old 1990.  I used "L" brackets I had in my supplies.  What a PITA!!!  My arm isn't long enough, but I finally got the job done.  grumble, grumble, curse, curse.  Hopefully it won't happen to that drawer again!

Hi Lisa;  I've broken two of those 'L' brackets so far. I replaced the drawer slides of the 3 small drawers in the kitchen (TK) with full extention slides, and kept the parts to the old slides, so I used them. (one left)  A lot of weight in my drawer under the refrigerator, and bouncing fatigues the acute bend at the back angle bracket. An advantage is that all of the kitchen drawers contents are available when pulled out. I found the built in detents of the new slides inadequate, so added magnets at the back. That works super, even with empty drawers. Weight keeps the little wear prone notch lock working.  I still try to pull the drawer handles 'up' when trying to open them. A hard to break habit, since that still is needed for the other 4 drawers.   RonB

Because the factory doesn’t take credit cards, charges for shipping, and doesn’t ship until  the payment is received, I’ve found it more practical/convenient  to order multiples of LD’s “proprietary” parts that one is likely to need again.

YMMV.

And I take Murphy's law into consideration.  A replacement will break at an inopportune time,  unless you have its replacement readily available.  Then it will never break.

The drawer slides are lightweight and will wear out in drawers with heavy loads. About half of our have worn out, even with periodic lubrication, the ball bearings in the slide's trucks pop out and disappear.
There are dozens of stronger slides available but I have never found any with locks, another way of keeping the drawers closed would need to be used, Ron's magnets may be the fix.

Just talked to Todd a few days ago.  Needed to order the plastic latches that hold the pantry, and under sink doors in a mid-bath.  I've broken several over the years, but don't know why.  We are not "hard" on the rig.  Just wear and tear I guess.

While talking with Todd, I found out that all of the 2021 chassis are now spoken for, so any newly received orders will be on the 2022 chassis.  Those won't likely arrive at the Mothership until late Fall 2021.  Todd notes that they are closed (thinking the showroom), but still building but not at optimal capacity.  Delays with chassis and other parts as well.

I'm thinking that anyone who is considering ordering a Lazy Daze should take this test: https://www.blueprintincome.com/tools/life-expectancy-calculator-how-long-will-i-live/  ;)

Upping my drinking knocked a whole year off  :o
If I keep to my current schedule,  its another 20 years with Orwan.
Better keep up with the aggressive maintenance schedule if I want it to last as long as I do.
Thanks Chris.

When talking with Todd much earlier (possibly Jan.) this year he said the first priority was to build some showroom models on the new 2021 chassis. Then they were to start on our unit. Things may have changed but mine will be ready around Labor Day.

Just curious - what is the history of floor models being available?   If someone wants to buy a floor model, are they told they'll have to order?   Nice to have them there but are they necessary?     Frank
