Hitch June 18, 2020, 12:16:57 am Hello, I have a 1990 laze daze and I want to install a receiver for bikes but I found underneath the bumper a plate with three holes for a hitch to install a ball receiver. I need a hitch in order to install a receiver for bikes.Any help please.
Re: Hitch Reply #1 – June 18, 2020, 07:28:58 pm My daughter has my 1990 MP and we used to have a bolt on receiver for a 2" bike rack hitch. We eventually had a hitch welded on. The hitch bolted alongside and through the bumper, and worked well for years. I don't currently have a photo, but I do have a photo at home on a CD.
Re: Hitch Reply #2 – June 19, 2020, 12:19:02 am It'll help us if you can tell what model/floorplan your 1990 rig is... and even better, attach a photo of the plate you're talking about.
Re: Hitch Reply #3 – June 19, 2020, 10:56:12 am On our '83 FL there was a ball installed on the steel plate. I removed it and installed a hitch receiver on top of the plate, drilling a 1" (if I remember) hole to bolt through, and behind that a 5/8" hole through both receiver and hitch plate for positional stability. The drilling was tedious and not much fun.Steve

The old receiver is still in my garage ( pictured below). Unfortunately, it attaches via 4 bolts, not three, so probably of no use to you. Anyone else need one? — Jon

If used for towing, upgrading the mounting hardware is a good idea. There have been problems with older hitches breaking the mounting bolts.Hitch receiver upgrade | FlickrLarry
