Smart Driver Assist Technology Package
Would this be an option to consider?
Or just more gadgetry to go wrong?

Can't really opine on this for a truck but I wouldn't live without it in a car now that I've had it for a few years!  If I had the opportunity I would certainly have ordered it on our LD

More to go wrong, sure but there is even more going wrong with us as we age as our reflexes and vision decline..
The technology has been out there for a few years, I would want it.

I love the lane assist!!! I do many trips to Utah from SoCal driving straight through (10.5 - 12 hours) and love the safety of this feature.  I utilize the "smart" cruise control also that maintains distance from the vehicle in front.  The lane change warning when a car is in my blind spot is also great.......heck, I guess I love everything about it......one reason I hate driving my wife's car is that it doesn't have it....

Good point.
At 63.5 years I am starting to notice  :D

And on that note...it is a big reason we are looking at new.
Most likely our last.

Driver assist technology  would be substantial reason for me to upgrade from our 2003 to a newer model.

We have a car with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.  Longer road trips are a breeze, and driving in traffic doesn't require as many inputs.  It adds 25% to the amount of time I feel like driving each day on a long trip.

I didn't expect any of this when we bought the car.  Now I wouldn't buy a new car or RV without it.

How much is it, amortized over the 20 years you'll have the rig.  After that it's all gravy.  ;)

I love, love, love our driver assist package......  we drive 80 to 100 miles to see relatives.  Both directions are  hilly curvy highway.   I now find a car in front of me that is driving as I would  turn on the assist package then let them do the thinking about speed control.   My Highlander just follows at a safe and comfortable pace.

I love the driver assist system in our Outback. Initially, it took awhile to get used to, and to trust the various features but it’s been all good after that. The only problem I have now is remembering that our other car isn’t such equipped  (for example, why am I getting ready to slam into that car in front of me? Is the adaptive cruise control not working?).

Be aware, that at least in the Subaru systems, there are conditions when the driver assistance features may shut down for safety reasons, usually due to heavy fog or rain.
