Water Filter Replacements
I've read through several threads but haven't been able to find my answer so hoping someone can help ☺️

Our 1999 Rear Bath has a NaturePure Ultrafine water filter, however the casing broke while we were attempting to replace the filter. We'd like to keep as much of the system and faucet in place as possible so I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a high quality filter that would work with the same set up and water flow tubes.

You might want to direct your questions to the RV Water Filter Store; the owners are very knowledgeable and can offer suggestions for replacement or alternatives.

The old Nature Pure filters worked fine but had a defect, the housing has a nylon-string or rod, that holds the two halves together, that's prone to breaking while trying to remove it. If the string breaks, it's impossible to open the housing without destroying it.
Our housing broke several years ago and I didn't want to pay the high price for a Nature Pure marine replacement. At the time, the plastic housing was replaced with a stainless steel housing at about twice the price..
I contacted the RV Water store and bought a complete new system, including the deck-mounted faucet for much less while having the same high degree of filtering.
The kit was similar to this.

Marine/RV - General Ecology, Inc

Both my wife and I have suffered from water-borne sicknesses, giardia isn't much fun, it is a great weight loss method.
After a case of two, we bought General Ecology backpacking water filters for our extended kayak camping trips and installed filters in our old 1983 LD and then in the 2003 LD.
Now, all the drinking water goes through the filter or comes out of a bottle.

Yep, that's exactly what happened to ours, Larry! The rod broke while I was pulling it out and now we're completely unable to get the canister open. Thank you both for these recommendations. I'll try the RV Water Filter Store.

For such expensive filters, by now, most of the old the Nature Pure filters have had the nylon 'string' snap off, with no way of removing it without destroying the filter housing.
For the few Nature Pure filters still in use, spraying the thread opening with silicone before removal seems to ease the process. When reinstalling the string, lightly coating the string with silicone grease or dielectric grease will help to keep it from breaking the next time the filter is changed.

Any idea where to get new filters for the old Nature Pure water filter?  They took them off the market and I'm on my last one!

I suggest giving General Ecology a call. The Sea Gull IV filter's looks similar. I have not seen an aftermarket filter replacement.
If a Factory filter is available, pull the filter apart before ordering it, there is good chance the old nylon thread, the part that holds the filter halves together will break. If it doesn't break, try to order a new one too, if available.

Are we ever going to see you again? The twins were still infants the last time we meet.

Here in our community of LD owners and RVers in general, fresh drinking water is essential as it is world wide.

I’ve taken care to keep our fresh water tanks filled with clean water via a two stage filtration system that is portable and stored in a bay of the rig.

Fresh clean water is not always easily obtained. Here is a very simple and effective filtration system. With a couple of collapsible pails, this simple system could even be used for our LD water supply.
