Interesting.
I've caught lots of skunks and possums in the have-a-heart, but never in the rat electrocutor.  Only rats and mice fit in the store-bought electrocutor.  The opening is just too small, unless maybe it was a baby.  But a baby couldn't tear up the trap.

I wonder if the skunk wanted the bacon and tore up the trap to get at it and then touched the two contacts after destroying the trap?  Either way, it sounds like a mighty unhappy skunk!

Could an adult skunk get his head into this rat-size opening?

I'll keep you posted on the project.  I may put a game camera pointed at it to watch how it works.

And how, one might ask, does a person get a skunk out of a Have-a-heart trap?

Take a fishing rod and rig a tuna jig at the end of the line.  Cast over the line over the trap. Reel in slowly as the jig drags on the ground toward the trap.  When the jig encounters the trap, the hook will snag the wire of the trap.  Keep reeling and jig will pull the trap and roll it over, releasing the skunk.

Said skunk will amble off to resume its harmless life and the problem is solved.

We first tried sending my son out with a plywood shield to pick up the trap, but that didn't work out as well.

Do not let the dog help during any part of this activity.

Kent, I like your house number display.  It looks like hand made art!

Harold - I had never heard of a black tank "fart filter"  :D . I wonder if having a filter of some type might help those that have complained of black tank smells in their RV... but I personally would guess much of those smells come from a bad seal in the toilet and check that first.

Maybe one of these Air Admitance Value would work at the top of the RV black tank vent.  They work well (and are legal & to code) for sticks and bricks homes when you can't attach the new vent to an existing vent (e.g. would have to tear up too much wall to get to one).

We are new owners, November 2019. We did our annual 4 day VW camping trip in our LD at the end of Jan. We did a one nighter after Yalaha bakery in Feb. We had to cancel our two week trip for the beginning of April, the reason we ended up buying the LD. I see the LD out there, we are doing some work on it when we can.    All I want to say is, it sure will be nice to do some trips.  We will probably do some weekend trips when we can and then do the two week trip in September.

I fully understand your concerns! And, until that day comes, you can assuage your anxiety with the knowledge that your Lazy Daze is right there waiting for you.   ;)

Here's a new twist...

Knowing that the Lazy Bones was in need of an oil change after LB2 made her South Dakota trip last year I was in a quandary as to how (and when) I would be able to get her into the shop.

Then yesterday I got an e-mail from my Automotive Service Facility with a unique offer. They will come to my house, pick up my LD, do the service or repairs, and then return it to me. How neat and convenient is that??

My guess is that they are happy to be open and hungry for customers.   :D

Tough times don't last.  Tough people (and LDs) do.  When this round of COVID-19 is past,  your LD will still be there in the present.
This time of year my feet start getting an itch that can only be cured by rubbing them on glacier-polished Sierra grainite.

A rebel at heart, I hit the road solo in Ophelia and made my first real journey of any distance since I purchased her in January of this year.
April 7th
I loaded her up with the fur kids, two dogs, and the cat and headed north for "Wyhoming" yes, I am from the real cowboy state! With a crosswind and gusts of wind as high as 60 miles per hour.
This former school bus driver was very grateful for Ophelia having a substantial "Booty"
Don't get me started on the "COVID-19" weight gain I liken to the "Freshman-15" freshman year of college!
Made it to Casper parked overnight at my sister and brother in law's place and then headed farther north to Sheridan where I mooch docked in my parents driveway for a week!
Hit the road for home on April 14th and did the return trip in one day.
It was a success! Minus the lost a rear wheel simulator somewhere along the way!

I've been a good girl, staying home.  Although I have donned the mask to go to Home Depot, rentals that need repair must be repaired...safely.  My pet sitting business is done to 5 essential clients, 4 medical, 1 handicapped senior couple.  Ghost Rider is sitting next to the house, all serviced and ready to go, in reality would be on the road to Missouri for our yearly trip.  I wish I could jump in and go, but I'd rather be safe.  I'm a reader, so I think I will look into y'alls recommendations, I've read all of my library!  Our new business tag line "stay safe, wash your paws!"

I was able too book two nights at the end of May at a State Park here in Florida. The general thought is that things will be opened up quite well here in couple of weeks.
