Owners / Management at Lazy Daze
I know Lazy Daze has been around a long time, is it still under the same ownership? Before I buy I want to make sure they are going to be around for awhile, hate to see them swallowed up by one of the big RV conglomerates! 

I live in southern CA, so I’ll be able to take my LD to the factory for service when needed. My other question is, is the after sale support good?

I’m seriously thinking of selling my 2017 Phoenix Cruiser already, may be a dumb thing to do already, but I’m not feeling good about my current RV being the one I’ll use for ten plus years.

Gee, We thought Phoenix Cruiser had a good reputation as a small semi custom manufacturer. We are torn between Phoenix Cruiser and Lazy Daze.  What do you think are the negatives with PC?  We know for sure that Todd is still the sales manager there....heck of a nice guy!

Who can forsee the future?  LD was started in the 1950s by Paul Newton and Harold Hamm.  Harold Hamm died a few years later.  Paul's brother Ed was brought in early on for his business knowledge.  Paul died about the mid 2000s and Ed a few years after.  Both Paul and Ed had families, but I believe only Ed's son Steve (who currently owns and runs LD) is the only family member actively involved with LD.  Last I knew, Steve does not have any family to follow him.  LD did survive the last recession, but who knows what might happen if another downturn happens.  LD has always stood behind their product and will pay for warranty service elsewhere.

I own a 2018 Phoenix cruiser, I've had more than my share of problems. I was looking at Lazy Daze at the same time but living in the Midwest I didn't want to wait a year then drive to the L.A. area to pick it up. The Phoenix Cruiser is a neat motorhome but good workmanship is lacking. I have 60,000 miles on so selling and buying a LD is out of the question.

The sustainability of LD inc. into the future has been discussed here in depth.   There are unique issues involved with how it may survive past the current management.  Steve could shed some light on this matter but he's not talking.  Current owners would be inconvenienced by a worst case scenario but these rigs can be worked on outside of the mothership.   So, just buy one and don't be too concerned about the unpredictable future.     Frank

Thank you all for your inputs, I appreciate it. I know there areis no guarantees on what the future holds. I debated between LD and the Phoenix Cruiser. I live 15 miles from LD, but I decided to buy a Phoenix Cruiser based in Indiana; the wife was convinced we needed the slides. As much research as I did on the Phoenix Cruiser you don't fully know how it will fit your needs until you use it for awhile.

All is not bad when it comes to Phoenix Cruiser, happy to talk with anyone considering PC vs a LD. It's just working out for us. 626-512-1051

The wife and I will be taking a tour next week of a 31 IB that is currently being built.

2010 PC 2350
2017 LD 27MB

Went back to the Lazy Daze when I could afford to get a late model one.  And I live in Indiana, go figure.  I don't ever plan on going to an RV manufacturer to fix things, that's why I bought the second LD.

Hey dshaffer - maybe that 31 IB you are going to see being built at the factory is ours!  If the name plate says "Custom Built for the Goochee Dolans" then that's our baby! (Not yet named.) We are planning to pick her up on December 20 and we can't wait to start our LD adventure!

Two years ago I was leaning toward the Phoenix cruiser, they changed hands and the feel of things seem to change as well. I asked a few questions about those concerns on their forum and was permanently blocked. This turned my search elsewhere.

I'm surprised they haven't kicked me off their forum, I've been very vocal about the poor workmanship on my Phoenix cruiser.

How is the insulation performing  in your Phoenix? I saw one couple on Youtube saying theirs was lacking somewhat. I am wondering also how the LD performs in this area.

Any RV with only two inches of wall insulation and acres of glass is not going to be well insulated.
If insulation is important, look at RVs built in Canada. Be prepared for tiny windows.

Just remember that the Lazy Daze brand was born and raised in Southern California, whose residents thrive on schadenfreude when discussing weather outside of SoCal.

How's the weather in Denver?
It was a cold January day today, the high was a cool 73, tonight it's a frosty 51 out. Brrrr.
Can't wait for spring.

Yeah, but I sometimes feel sorry for those with such a bland existence  ;D  ::) ...if we don't like the weather we need only wait a day or two for a change here in Tornado Alley where we have four seasons (though they don't necessarily follow a sequential pattern--this week we've got a good 5" of snow left from our two lovely bouts last week that ended up with kids out of school for 6 days; this week started out with upper 30s, heading into low 30s & more snow around Wednesday, ending the week in the mid-40s/near 60 on Sunday/49 Monday, & then back down to the 30s...).

Dave--

The coach can be kept comfortable in cold weather (I've been in single digits) by draping off the coach door & uninsulated cab with blankets/insulating & sealing the roof vents; I've also made inserts from foam & big bubble wrap to go between the windows & blinds.  I've not invested in a Buddy Heater & extension; however, if I'm plugged in I've got a couple of space heaters that save on propane.

It seems to be pretty good. We camped up north, one night it got down to 0 degrees, we had full water, and very good electricity to run heaters, nothing froze.

I have a 2002 LD Rear Kitchen. Been on the road since Oct. 2019. Didn't plan it, but have been camping in areas where it got down to 24 degrees a couple of times, and below freezing a bunch. I use different methods to stay warm. Try not to use the furnace more than necessary because diesel is so expensive.  Between electric heaters,  Mr. Buddy propane heater, the furnace, I have been very comfortable.  Those times have been with some limited hook up available, ie household current as opposed to 30amp available. LD I believe are considered all season RV's. With the tanks and water pump built inside the coach,  there is less likely to be frozen lines, pump and tanks. Even with all the wonderful windows, I fell this is a well insulated coach. After this experience, and being from the Gulf coast of Texas, I think keeping warm is a whole lot easier than keeping cool, if you don't plan your destinations correctly.
