Rear window shade replacement
The shade on the rear window of my Lazy Daze was already slightly defective when I bought the rig, and slowly the damage becomes more significant.

I think I might be able to somehow clamp the two lowest pleats and the string to the bottom rack, but at one point I will have to replace this shade.

The question is, with what? The same kind of shade? Would I get it from a normal shade shop? Or better a day/night roller shade? How is a roller shade fixed to the lower end of the slanted window? What kind of replacement cost am I looking at?

Certainly call to find out, but I think that Irvine Shade and Door is wholesale to manufacturers and doesn’t sell direct to a retail customer. I had all three rear shades replaced in my TK a couple years ago at the factory; I don’t recall the prices. If the same shade is wanted,  I’d just get replacements from the LD factory.

I had the same problem with the blind over the dinette in my mid bath. Thanks to the advice of another forum member I contacted this guy who has a business  repairing shades. He is usually working in Quartzsite in the winter and I arranged to meet him in the parking lot behind the Pilot station. He had all the repair parts and got it fixed quickly. He charged about $50. I recommend him if you want to repair rather than replace.

Our 1983 LD had heavy light-proof roller shades from the Factory.  When we sold it, they were twenty years old and still in good shape.
Our 2003 had the same pleated shade as Klaus and after having four strings break, we replaced all of the pleated shades with MCD roller shades, the same brand the Mothership uses, buying just the light-proof roller and not the screen rollers.
If doing it again, I would go to a window treatment store and buy the best, lightproof roller shades they have,.
The MCD shades come in a variety of colors, but the color coating is very thin and is easy to wear through when trying to clean spots, they are not as durable or washable as the roller shades in our 1983 LD.  For what they cost, they are not worth it.

If a pleated shade is not bent and/or torn, they are repairable, string kits are available using a very low stretch string and new springs. A large table is needed to lay the shade on for disassembly and restringing, it's a whole lot of fun .
Unfortunately, Klaus's shade is bent and the string holes are ripped, it's not a good candidate for repair.

When we bought our unit used it came with no blinds. The previous owner got tired of dealing with them and tore them out :)

Were are very happy with the Bali roller shades we got from Home Depot when they had a sale. Bali didn't made a wide shade for the rear lounge window that goes up automatically at a touch. It uses a plastic chain to raise and lower but we don't mind.
