2020 Tampa RV Super Show
I had the opportunity to attend the big RV show here in Tampa on senior discount day Wednesday. There were hundreds of every style of RV and two big buildings of RV accessory vendors to explore. I usually enjoy seeing all the things they are selling but this day one could barely move through the crowds of people. Thousands attended and the arrivals backed up traffic on I-4 for a few miles. At least I knew some back ways around the traffic and had an on-line ticket to bypass the long lines at the ticket booth.
When touring the RVs I mostly focused on looking at the better built class C's (in their opinion) such as Tiffin, Coach House, Nexis, and Phoenix Cruiser. Most are now building on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis and a few on the Ford E-350/450. What struck me was the exorbitant  asking prices on the class B&C Sprinter based units. Most of these were averaging from $130K to One Coach House unit that was $202,000 on the Ford chassis!! Yes, they are well built, but, I now realize what we will be paying for our new LD Rear Bath is quite a bargain for a coach that is better built than anything I saw at this show. No, I didn't pay any attention to the Newell, Foretravel, etc., as they are too big to go where we like to hide in the outback.  Everything else there wasn't worth looking at. So if anyone thinks LD's prices are high, they are not, for the quality one will get with their new coach. I will be looking forward to getting ours sometime this summer. I more than know my new unit will last longer than any other class C motorhome I saw at the show.

Lazy Daze USED to show only at the L.A. County Fairgrounds annual RV show in Pomona, but I think they no longer do even that. It makes me what other small companies may be around with little exposure other than word-of-mouth? Such companies, like LD, can only stay in business with a loyal following, likely due to high quality and great ergonomics... rarely seen in the mass-market brands.

You are correct, Steve. I went to the 2019 show and no sign of Lazy Daze. It was fun to walk around and look at other offerings, though. The RVIA show is no longer held in Pomona. It’s now at the California Speedway in Fontana.

We also went to Tampa show but on Thursday.  Seniors day sounded too crowded for the $2 discount.  We saw minimal traffic and no ticket lines on Thursday.  We arrived about 1015am.  A lot of fun and the best RV show we ever attended.

We selectively viewed the RVs; CH, Phoenix Cruiser, Lance, Tiffin and Newmar.  All quality units on par with LD. However, for the  money a new LD can not be beat.

I concluded that there is no perfect RV.  But the best RV is the one that checks the most boxes for the owner. When you find your perfect RV buy it!
