All messages of a topic on one page January 17, 2020, 09:16:35 am Was it not possible before to see all messages of a thread on one page? Can this option come back, please? Or, at least, can there be an option to see 100 messages? Thanks,Klaus 1 Likes

Do you mean a list of each message in the thread or the entire content of each message of a thread or what? It would not be possible to see all the messages of a long thread on one page. Please describe exactly what you are looking for.Chris
Re: All messages of a topic on one page Reply #2 – January 17, 2020, 10:48:52 am I don't think the "All" was ever properly set, but you should now see that option both on the message index and when viewing a topic that has more than one page. The limitation is that it will only allow the "All" for topics that have less than 125 messages, if it exceeds that then you will not see that All button but only the page number buttons 1,2,3 etc.You can set how many messages you want to see on a page by going to your account -> look and layout and change the "Messages to display per page:" value, although I think you can only go up to 50.The reason for there being some limitations is that its simply hard on the server and site bandwidth to show all that data at one time (think of a topic with a lot of images). Also for example should a bot come by to visit and see the All button, it could consume 5X the bandwidth per request. In reality there are only a handful of topics that go for more than 4 pages anyway. 4 Likes
Re: All messages of a topic on one page Reply #3 – January 17, 2020, 10:50:45 am Right now "Messages to display per page" is set by default to 25 in Profile - Look and Layout and can be changed to 50. See attachment. I would like to have an option to either see all messages or at least 100 messages. I do often go back and forth between messages in a thread and would like to have not or less often to change pages.I believe to remember that at some time in the past it was possible to click on a topic page onto an "All" button next to the pages and "Next" buttons. It could be that I mix that up with a different forum, although this is pretty much the only forum that I am visiting since quite a long time.Klaus

The "All" button is back i. e. on the "Quartzsite 2020 10th Anniversary" thread which has currently 53 messages.I was not aware of the strain that displaying many messages has on the server. That can, of course, be a good reason to limit this feature. Thanks, Steve. Klaus

Re: All messages of a topic on one page Reply #6 – January 17, 2020, 05:41:49 pm Now I’m wondering what the record is for longest thread on LDOF?
Re: All messages of a topic on one page Reply #7 – January 17, 2020, 08:16:51 pm On the left, # of posts in the topic. On the right, # of views. I'm not sure what "new files uploaded to life etc." includes or how it is populated. Maybe Steve will chime in and help.On the home page. find the heading "Board Stats" and click on the number to the right of "total posts". That should take you to a page where all the stats are. 2 Likes
