Visible Cell Service
Several months ago I switched from Verizon to Visible.  I love it.  It costs $40 a month which includes tax.  It is $25 for the first month and one gets a credit if one refers others.  There is unlimited data, messages, minutes, and a hotspot.  Visible’s hotspot is so much better than the one I had with Verizon.  Often times I couldn’t connect with the Verizon hotspot.  Other times they slowed me down.  I had limited data and would incur charges if I went over my limit.  Visible’s website states, “It all happens on Verizon’s 4G LTE Network, now with the added convenience of WiFi calling.*” I’m saving well over $100 a month from my previous plan.  However, one must have a phone that is compatible with Visible. One can check compatibility on their website Visible.com.  One can also purchase a compatible phone at Visible.com.  I bought the I-Phone 7 from them at a very good price.  The other catch is that there are no stores to help you or telephone numbers.  Everything is done online.  One can chat or text for help or questions.   Since I’m not very tech savvy I had to have a friend help me insert the sim card in the new phone and set everything up.

The info says that hotspot use is throttled to a maximum of 5 mbps.  I have no idea how fast or slow that is, but this would be a concern for me since that's the way we get online even when we're at our sticks and bricks.  Can someone clue me in as to the speed?

Thanks for the link Joan.  I don't do any video streaming except for an occasional YouTube video, so I'm not sure how to translate it to what I do -- mainly visiting websites such as this one, doing banking, etc.  However, I found this paragraph interesting:

"For reference, all 50 states and Washington, D.C., have an average connection speed of 10 Mbps or more, according to a report from Akamai, a major internet security and content delivery company. Idaho, the slowest, sits at 10.2 Mbps, while Washington, D.C., clocks in with the fastest average speed, 24.3 Mbps."

5 mbps would be half of the average connection speed of 10 mbps, so slow.

From the site.
"3. Mobile Hotspot
Visible’s $40/month unlimited plan also includes mobile hotspot, but don’t expect blazing fast speeds. Mobile hotspot speeds are capped at 5 Mbps and limited to one tethered device at a time."

We often use two devices at a time, connecting with a cell phone's hotspot. A single tethered device at a time is a deal breaker, not to mention the low download speed.
Everyone has different needs, this may be perfect for those who spends little time online.
