Surprisingly, I have never seen a solar panel damaged by hail, but with large enough hail, even the thick glass will break. I have heard of windshields being broken by hail. Re: Hail Damage Repair Reply #2 – October 15, 2019, 04:23:56 pm What kind of damage are you thinking about?The original owners of my LD replaced some of the plastic parts (A/C Cover) and were left with small dents across parts of the roof. The had a white self-leveling non-slip compound applied by a RV repair shop in an attempt to level things out. No damage to the car or to the LD, which was in the local RV Park, but my hearing has not been the same since. 1 Likes

They’re made of heavy plastic and should protect against hail. The refrigerator vent cover is not expensive so that’s just a replacement. The A/C shroud and escape hatch are not protected but they’re made of heavy material. We’ll moved the Rig so that front is pointing away from the approaching storm. One time we moved to another campsite that had heavy tree cover. We have a heavy outdoor rubber backed mat that we place on the windshield. We keep our LD in a covered 34’ storage unit. We get hail every year. Nobody in our neighborhood has a roof much older than 5-7 years. There’s no protection for grapefruit size hail. Our insurance is our final protection. 1 Likes
Re: Hail Damage Repair Reply #7 – October 17, 2019, 12:39:35 pm We had a vent damaged by hail (hole in it). Rest of RV did fine. Short hail storm but almost golf size hail.It was pretty easy and inexpensive to replace.

If you had installed Maxxaire Maxxfans in all roof vent locations you would have found that they are more quiet and just as efficient as the Fantastic's, plus they come with an integral rain cover which can be locked in any position to provide good air flow standing or under way. I have 5 of them in my 2004 30'IB. Oh yes, you also would not have had to use a screwdriver to remove the screens for cleaning, MaxxAirs come with twist tabs for screen removal. 1 Likes

While I’m at it, we might as well have the Factory repaint the Rig, powder coat the frame, new engine, new transmission. Let’s see. All it takes is money. Why didn’t I think of that? 2 Likes
