Source for Onan Emerald oil sensor
Hi,

I've determined the oil sensor is bad in a Emerald 4000 generator. I grounded the wire going to the sensor and the generator runs just like it should. With the wire going to the sensor the generator starts and then immediately stops.

I  really don't want to deal with Cummins directly. Does anyone have a part number for this sensor or a source for a compatible sensor from NAPA or other?

Your rig "signature" shows a 2003 TK; I have the same model year, and the generator in my rig is a Microquiet 4000. My 2003 is a slightly later build, but I know at least two other badged-as-2003s, but earlier builds, that have Microquiets and not Emeralds, so I was surprised that you posted that the generator in your 2003 is an Emerald.

At any rate, if you have the owner's manual for the generator, I'd look up the part number for the oil pressure sensor and do a search. Otherwise, this site may help:

Parts for Onan generators come from Onan.
You need to find the generator's specification number to order the right sensor.

As Joan pointed out, 2003 and later LDs have Microquiet 4000 generators, a completely different generator.
The Emeralds have two cylinders and run at 1600RPM, the Microquiet 4000 is a single cylinder and runs at 3600RPM.
If you can figure what generator you actually have, along with its specification number, the internet has online dealers.
Check the Onan owners manual that should have come with your LD to see if it lists the model and and spec number.

There is a company that makes parts for Onan generators. It’s called Flight systems. I once bought a voltage regulator for my Emerald 4000 from them and I was completely satisfied. They are much cheaper.

Sorry for the confusion. The  Emerald  Plus 4000 is in my brothers  late 90's class C (non LD). That's why I said "oil sensor is bad in a Emerald 4000 generator" :^)

 I figured it's the same one used in LD's of the same era so I thought folks  might be familiar with it here on the forum. My brother doesn't have a manual for the generator and he doesn't spend any time online so I thought I  would  help  him out.

That clears up this bit of confusion.
You or your brother still needs to find the model and serial number off the generator to order the correct parts.
The tag should look like this.
Onan Generator Parts In Stock | Onan Generators Parts- ASAP

Unless you find an experience Onan tech, someone who knows what sensor is used, you will need the above information before ordering parts.

Thanks for the suggested links. Flight Systems seems to know what their doing.

I told my brother we really need to know the model number and serial number so he should get that to me soon. I do know it's a Onan Emerald Plus and I believe the model number starts  with a BGE.

When I wss looking for a fuel pump, I also needed to know series number which is a third number on the nomenclature tag. I think it was series, could of been catalogue number. Anyway I needed it.
