Litter box ideas (split from Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List) September 09, 2019, 04:03:02 am Greg - I have seen people do cat litter boxes in outside bins (easier to clean) with a doorway to that spot from inside,In out TK model the small bin at the entry door below the batteries would work great with an entry in the stairway.Or separate a portion of the space under a coach in the back lounge area with an inside entry.Might be worth thinking how you will use the storage bin areas and where they are located in the current models.Jame[split this out of the 2019 options price list topic - Michelle]
Re: Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List Reply #1 – September 09, 2019, 09:09:45 am Thanks, Jane. I’m hoping there will be a Mid-Bath on display when we visit the factory in October so we can decide on litter box placement options. I’m thinking the shower stall might be the way to go because of the ventilation in the bathroom but will keep an open mind to other areas.Another item to add to my list of questions! 🤔

Vents were installed in the exterior bin door to control odor. It seemed like a good fix if you can convince your cat to cooperate and it keeps the mess outside of the interior. For our last house cat, I built a box with a flip-up cover, for easy access when cleaning. In the back of the box was motion detector that turned on a large computer fan that was ducted, with dryer hose, to a window. This mostly eliminated any odors and the cat adapted to it very quickly.Larry 1 Likes

That way I don't have to worry about leaving the door open for the cat. The cat door also has a panel that I can slide into the cat door that shuts it closed, so if I need to lock my cat in the bathroom for some reason I can do it. I found a 'corner' shaped cat litter box with high sides on Amazon that fits in the shower of my TK and even matches my bathrooms color scheme. 2 Likes
Re: Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List Reply #5 – September 15, 2019, 07:40:32 am We had the factory install an opening and door on the dinette isle area behind the passenger seat on our 2017 MB. We removed the door and put a curtain up. The cats go through the curtain to use the box. To clean, simply lift the seat and you have access to box. 1 Likes
Re: Litter box ideas (split from Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List) Reply #6 – September 15, 2019, 01:53:10 pm In my midbath, I put a covered litter box between the front seats (I moved it elsewhere when driving), and blocked off the cab with a comforter hung from the edge of the overcab bed. I cut a vertical slit in the bottom edge of the comforter to allow my cat easy access. In my current rig, I put the litter box in the shower. I cut a 6" hole between the shower and the bedroom and installed marine "deck plates" (basically like small, screw-in manhole covers) on either side. Normally I leave both covers off; when showering, I install the inside cover so no water can get out. 1 Likes
Re: Litter box ideas (split from Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List) Reply #7 – May 15, 2021, 07:57:14 pm Reviving this thread from a couple years ago. We are going to try out the litter box under the aft dinette seat for now. Removed the door and placed a curtain DW made over the hole. We’ll see how it works out. 3 Likes

Re: Litter box ideas (split from Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List) Reply #9 – May 16, 2021, 08:46:27 am We had the factory install a door under the dinette seat next to the passenger front seat similar to the one they install on under dinette seat next to the entry door. We took off door and stored it. We put a curtain on where the door was that allows our cat easy access. When we need to clean the cat box, it is simple to take the seat off to access the liter box. We have discovered that liter made from ground up almond shells, available at most pet stores, works great at keeping the oder to a minimum.
Re: Litter box ideas (split from Re: Lazy Daze 2019 Options Price List) Reply #10 – May 16, 2021, 10:04:28 am I think there are two or three schools of thought on this. Some would prefer the litter box be in the forward dinette seat so there is access from the outside for cleaning. Makes perfect sense! I didn’t want to lose that larger space as I store a lot of stuff there, including my tools which I like being able to access from outside. There is always the shower option as well but that would require cutting a cat door in the bathroom door, something I’m hesitant to do. We’ll see how the current setup works and adjust, if necessary.
