What needs to be fixed at delivery? August 25, 2019, 05:13:33 pm I've seen so many people suggesting taking delivery of new LD's and then staying in the area for a couple of days to do a shakedown of all items, although most also say there is nearly nothing wrong at delivery. I will be taking delivery in Arizona to avoid the CA sales tax, thus not be able to hang around Montclair. My plan is to schedule the walk through one morning and the next morning schedule the driver to take me to AZ, hopefully leaving time for any needed tweaks on the first day.So what have you that ordered new LD's had to get adjusted/repaired during the first couple days that didn't get caught at walk through? Should I plan on staying in Ehrenberg a couple of days for a run-up of the LD systems, or just take caution to the wind and trust I will have purchased the best motor home on the market and drive on home to Michigan?Linda

Reply #2 – August 25, 2019, 05:52:48 pm Linda, Ehrenberg is so close, you could go back easily.I think some people have found 1-2 things that needed adjusting (door not quite closing right or something). But it is better to find it when you can ask the factory to fix it rather than when you get back home. Can I ask how much is it costing you for someone to drive it to AZ?AZ, where we live right now, recently increased their taxes on vehicles bought from a dealer so they are very close to the CA tax rate now.AZ is 5.6 state tax plus a new 2% city tax with another 0.1% tax on the first $10,000. Might vary some city to city.Jane

Re: What needs to be fixed at delivery? Reply #4 – August 25, 2019, 06:49:06 pm Lazy Daze makes a high quality rig, but nothing is perfect, and LD readily acknowledges this. Often, small warts will be caught and fixed during the delivery process and the "go through" by both the owner(s) or the person doing the checkout. However, particularly if an owner is new to RVs and has little experience being able to notice if something is amiss, or is in "overload" from waiting for 18 months and in the thing is finally here mode, or is anxious to get on the road, issues/glitches can be missed. My experience was 16 years ago, so it may not be as relevant as those of newer rigs, but I think still worth mentioning as a suggestion to not just "blow Dodge" and assume that everything is peachy. My 2003 was delivered with a couple of smears of caulk on the upholstery, a toilet that was not set correctly, a bathroom door latch that didn't catch, and an exterior compartment door that didn't close completely (sprung). Those issues were fixed during the check out; two more issues revealed themselves by the next day after hard rain and wind overnight at a local RV park: a low engine oil level (hard to see because it was almost clear), and drain holes in the rear window and one side window that were completely blocked with whatever, and allowed water to pool in the window channel inside the rig and run down the back wall and onto a couch cushion. After my driving lessons in the area, and before getting the long valves installed, the rig went back to the factory (I found other glitches later, but they were not apparent in the time immediately surrounding the delivery.)Not everyone will experience the same issues, if any at all, but, IMO, it is a smart plan to stick around for a day or so after pick-up to check through the operations of everything, and, if a problem is found, have the factory make it right. As ever, YMMV. 2 Likes
Re: What needs to be fixed at delivery? Reply #5 – August 25, 2019, 07:23:23 pm I had a rear end cap with a hair line horizontal crack that I either missed or it happened shortly after the purchase. It is covered if I ever get back to the mother ship. And one paint flaw I was able to fix with paint sent to me. That was it. So, check your end caps front and rear and go over the paint job carefully. Also, check all of the wood work carefully for flaws. Frank
