Roof Sealant August 12, 2019, 10:04:30 pm I posted this in renovations but I am not getting responses. Ergo, here it is. My rig is a 1989 M22. I am about to attempt some roof work. My intention is to remove the old seal and reseal. (Although it has been suggested that I leave the old seal, clean thoroughly and simply apply new seal). How do I know if the current seal is TPO, or EPDM? Which sealant would you recommend? This includes having to remove old fasteners at joins. (Best way to seal that?) Having never done this before, I would really appreciate your insightful experience. (Have done a good deal of research already). Thank you in advance.

Re: Roof Sealant Reply #2 – August 13, 2019, 02:22:32 am Joan responded to your other post, offering the same recommendation as Chris: read the article on roof sealing in the LD Companion.
Re: Roof Sealant Reply #3 – August 14, 2019, 03:03:27 am I am used to TPO & EPDM referring to roof membrane material, not sealant in a tube. Check out the Companion on sealants used, you can also search the forums - lots of info there.Jane
Re: Roof Sealant Reply #4 – August 14, 2019, 09:21:06 am "How do I know if the current seal is TPO, or EPDM?""I am used to TPO & EPDM referring to roof membrane material"---Lazy Daze have painted sheet aluminum roofs, not "rubber" (EPDM or TPO) roof coverings, the "roof membrane material" referred to Jane's post; any sealing product or method used to seal an aluminum roof is different from that used for an aluminum roof. As posted, the article in the Companion and many additional forum posts (Click the "Community" tab, then the "Search" tab under that heading) will provide a great deal of information. 1 Likes
Re: Roof Sealant Reply #5 – August 17, 2019, 08:11:51 pm I taped my 86LD 22 with Eternabond tape. Great stuff. About $90 for a 6 inch roll. In June I even bought a large roll to bring back to OZ with me. Great stuff! May patch my galvanized roof in spots. It is good for at least ten years. Love having my LD over here. I have it on duel fuel;petro and LPG. Petro(gasoline) is $6 gallon here. LPG is .45 a litre. Regards. Taping the roof was fun. Just clean old area with alcohol spirits and NO silicone residue left. Tape will not stick to silicone.Regards 1 Likes

I see you posted a couple of years ago, looking for an LD to have shipped to OZ, which is short for Australia. Great that you got your LD and welcome to LDOG. I am pasting in a blurb for our inquisitive members which will explain where OZ comes from. I had to look that up.Chris"In everyday conversation Australia is pronounced “A.straylia”, whilst English and posh people pronounce Australia as “Aw. straylia”. Americans tend to refer to Australians as “Ossies” . To reduce their accent Australians pronounce Australia as “Oz. straylia” or the land of “Oz” a pun refering to the land in movie “The Wizard Of Oz”. This is because Australia was often refered to as “the lucky country”." 2 Likes
Re: Roof Sealant Reply #7 – August 18, 2019, 12:45:14 am Chris:Nice to get your note.Bought LD in Southern Cal and shipped it out of LA. Drive on/drive off. Went to Japan and then after on dock for 12 days shipped to OZ. 45 days altogether. I love my LD here. Love OZ! Many restrictions on shipping MH to OZ; AGE>25 yrs IF don't change to RH drive, rear overhang etc. LD qualified with some minor modifications. I had to cut the rear bumper off to qualify for the rear over hang issue. Rear lighting had to be changed as turn signals are lone lamps where you all have them on stop lights. Took a while to get it up to code here but it was fun. The LD is in good NIK now. Regards,
