Switching everything off when pumping gas July 20, 2019, 03:37:06 am I’ve been reading through the material, but what specifically should I be turning off when I pump gas? Where are all the buttons located for everything that should be turned off?

Where are all the buttons located for everything that should be turned off?My main concern was anything that could potentially ignite gasoline vapor. This was mostly the piezoelectric igniters in the fridge and the water heater. Since our water heater was on the passenger side, and usually off while traveling, it wasn't much concern. The fridge was on the fuel fill side and we had a routine where Barbara would turn the fridge off when making a fuel stop and turn it back on after leaving the station. We almost always left the propane on when driving, except when stopping for propane. Most (all?) propane places won't fill the tank with the valve open. I do remember one gas stop where I noticed that the car on the other side of the pump was dripping gasoline underneath from some leak. I was glad to pull away from there!Art 6 Likes
Re: Switching everything off when pumping gas Reply #2 – July 20, 2019, 07:57:04 pm If your fridge will run on 12V, whether with a 12V heater coil or an inverter, the fridge will switch to gas and the igniter will fire when the engine is turned off. Our fridge has about a 20-second delay before switching, which gives me time to turn the fridge off. As long as there is no open flame nor attempt to light one, the propane tank valve can stay on.Steve

Water Heater - Off (on the control panel)4. Propane/Furnance Heaters - Off at the thermostat or heater if there is an after-market heater.5. And of course, the engine is off.And finally, welcome to the LDOF Neighborhood. We hope you share more about your Rig and travels. Finally, hope this information is helpful.*We were filling up not long ago and a MH pulled in with the generator running. It ran the entire time. 2 Likes

Re: Switching everything off when pumping gas Reply #5 – July 21, 2019, 11:55:19 am Jacob, welcome! Here's a suggestion: in your forum profile, put your rig's year and type (1989 Twin/King) in your signature. That way they'll automatically appear in each message you post, and when people reply, they'll know what you have, and can give better answers. 1 Likes
