Has anyone been back to the 81 Lazy Daze on ebay, $ 8400.00 with 16 hours left. Should we start a pool to see if it makes it to 10,000.00.

$ 9401.00

That is too much money for a 38 year old LD, unless it is very good condition both cosmetically and mechanically.
Somehow, I doubt it.
There have been some big improvement in LDs in the years since and I see little reason to buy such an old rig unless you cannot resist the extreme retro look.
Buying mechanical parts could be a real problem and it has a carburetor, an archaic device that few mechanics know how to work on anymore, much less being able to buy the proper repair and rebuilding kit .

Hope it gets used a weekend beach rig and doesn't end up parked in a nearby commercial zone.

Around here, it's the local Walmart. Somebody just spent a ton of money...

I hope whoever bought it had a chance to inspect it before buying, we have had too many disasters occur to forum members who didn't check out the condition of an antique rig before buying.
It could be cherry or a lemon .

I met a very nice couple up here in Big Bear. They recently purchased a ‘92 RB that had been gently used for much of its life and only recently used infrequently by the second owner. These fine folks are the third owners.

The exterior paint is in pristine condition, the interior is immaculate. It had an array of upgrades to the suspension as well as levelers. They count themselves very fortunate to have found the LD near their home here in So Cal.

They had been searching for a LD for years and had seen some “parking lot” fodder for sale that they were only too glad to get away from in a hurry. Not all of the LD’s out there are as gently loved or dedicatedly refurbished as those here on LDO.

Larry’s cautionary note on the EBay rig is sound advice of course and hopefully the new owners of this EBay find will do well by their purchase. For those LD wannabes still out there...check em carefully.

Greg,

I believe the reference to the six speed is for the Toad.

Saw that Kent, but if you look down towards the bottom of the ad where it describes the E-450 chassis, it also mentions a 6-speed automatic tranny.

Based on the "LD asking Prices - 2019 version" it quotes $37626 for a 24' LD.  Owner may have a loan to pay off?

Hi Hutch. Well it is only ten years old, looks like new condition with only 30k miles. It was probably kept inside for the winter. So it might be worth that much to someone, but a bit overpriced. Not very many pictures, or comments about tire age, levelers, Banks, augmented solar, battery age, etc. IMO a bit overpriced, but not a scam.   RonB

This rig may be in good condition, but it's way overpriced. As Ron said, not much real information given. And, it's a V-8, not a V-10.

It had to be a v-10. I believe that’s all that was available in that year.

The V-8 was the standard engine for the 24' in 2009; the V-10, standard on the larger LDs, was optional on the 24'.

Joan is correct ... another source of this information.

If it is a V8, that will decrease it value even more, reducing its ability to tow. On the 24' models, theV10 was optional.
Who knows what Steve actually ordered, they all may have V10s
Not many V8s were sold, most buyers want the more powerful engine, the V10  is definitely not over powered.

Good eyes Joan. I missed that part in the Ad that it was a V-8. Definitely a poor choice by the original buyer not to get the V-10. That makes it worse than just over priced; it puts it into the 'I won't even consider it' column.  RonB

I stand corrected. For some reason I was thinking 27 footer. In that case, I think this one is overpriced.

"Definitely a poor choice by the original buyer not to get the V-10."

There were several threads on the "V-8 vs. V-10" topic during the time that the V-8 was the standard engine choice that LD offered on the 24'; there was a cost increase if one chose the V-10, but if I recall accurately, most of the questions from potential buyers involved mileage differences between the two engines, i.e., would one expect to get better mileage with the V-8? Again, if I remember the replies, most knowledgeable responders advised getting the V-10, citing small, if not negligible, gains in mileage and less power with the V-8.

I have no idea how many buyers of 24' LDs went with the V-8 when it was offered (2008-?; maybe someone who has a spec sheet past 2016 might post?), but all current LD models use the V-10.

Thank you, Ed. The 2014 and 2015 model year changes are not listed in the “Changes by Year” doc, so I wasn’t sure.
