New Tires May 16, 2019, 01:07:54 pm I'm actually at the Lazy Daze Factory today getting some things taken care of and I was having a chat with Vince regarding it was time to put new tires on the rig. He's a huge fan of Goodyear G947's....which doing some researching while I'm waiting here seems that the actual title is GOODYEAR G947 RSS ARMOR MAX TIRE. Wondering if anyone has had recent experience having these purchased/installed (better yet if you had it done in SoCal)? Thanks,Bill
Re: New Tires Reply #1 – May 16, 2019, 03:35:12 pm BillI'm on my 2nd set of G947s and wouldn't have anything else. Changed out the 1st set at 6 years of age. Sure hope they keep on making them! 3 Likes

I was there on Monday delivering my LD for its upcoming surgery. I don't think Vince was impressed that I put new Michelin Defenders on mine. I just went with what was already on the rig (or close to what was on it before). :-) 1 Likes
Re: New Tires Reply #3 – May 18, 2019, 08:57:39 am I have Michelin Defenders on my TK; I have never run any tire but Michelins in 114k miles, and had NO issues at all. Make sure to get the freshest, date-matched tires, keep them inflated properly (determined by the weight of the loaded rig), get a good alignment, and don’t overload. Watch for uneven wear.
Re: New Tires Reply #4 – May 18, 2019, 10:10:31 am The G947's are no longer being produced.........and Debinvenice, Vince is definitely a G947 fan......so it looks like I'll be going with the Michelins....now to find a place to buy/install them plus do an alignment.... 1 Likes
Re: New Tires Reply #5 – May 18, 2019, 10:28:56 am Clarence Brown in San Diego does the best alignment for trucks and heavier vehicles and has continued this excellent tradition for decades. They aligned my Lazy Daze and have taken care of several of my F350 alignment issues. When they aligned my Lazy Daze, the tech took the time to show me what the existing problem was and how he fixed it. The LD drives now drives straight and doesn't wander when trucks pass.San Diego Wheel Alignment | Clarence Brown Alignment ServicesHarold 2 Likes

Re: New Tires Reply #12 – May 18, 2019, 07:28:19 pm I'll go with Joan, the Michelin Defender LT225/75R16 are excellent tires. I have them on both of my Lexi, and the LD. About $210 each, plus of course FET, sales tax, disposal, warrantee and mounting fees, etc. About $280.00 all told each. I buy mine at Costco, or Discount Tires. The Goodyear tire just isn't worth another $100 per tire. $700 more! for seven tires. My opinion of course. RonB 1 Likes
Re: New Tires Reply #13 – May 18, 2019, 08:09:09 pm Michelin Defenders seem popular on here. I guess it depends on where you live but I tried to get Michelin Defenders put on this month and the newest date available from several warehouses was 2017 so obviously I will be looking for something else.

Re: New Tires Reply #17 – May 19, 2019, 10:13:48 pm You might want to check out the Toyo Open Country H/T tires. I have had them on my 30' IB for the last 6 1/2 years and am about ready to replace although they still look very good (I don't have a ton of miles on them. Yes I understand that age wears them anyway); much better than the Michelin's did after that age. They also ride very well. I am taking my coach to Les Schwab to evaluate this week and see if I can last the summer with them which will be less than 1000 total miles. I intend to replace with the same tires. $208/tire at Les Schwab or $138/tire at Discount Tire. Les Schwab will install 6 tires for $1,200 all-in. No tax in Oregon Mike S.

It was really strange.....I asked about the 947's and their response was that it's no longer available.....didn't try to push me to another one of their products......how NOT to gain a potential new customer.....
