Shoe Storage May 01, 2019, 07:05:16 pm Wondering where to stow/keep shoes in a mid-bath - any suggestions?
Re: Shoe Storage Reply #1 – May 01, 2019, 07:09:49 pm "...where to stow/keep shoes ..."Most I've seen were in fabric 'shoe-socks' hung on the back of a closet door!

Re: Shoe Storage Reply #4 – May 02, 2019, 01:03:27 pm Great question, Kit. Seems like every trip we bring more shoes, what with bike riding, kayaking and more activities on our camping agenda. In our 24' TK, there are a few places that work. We use the cabover bed for storage so we put some shoes up there in a basket so that they can't bounce around and fall on us when we're driving. That keeps the shoes up front which is convenient since it's near the door and we don't have to search around in the back of the rig. So, the footwear we use for biking and boating goes up there. For the shoes we wear regularly, we tuck those by the front seats. Sneakers fit tight and out of the way so we don't trip over them when they're pushed behind the driver's seat - not too far or they're hard to get out. Then for less used shoes like nice leather shoes or sandals for the beach, those we keep in the wardrobe cabinet beneath the hanging clothes.Depending on where we are camping and what we're doing, the shoes stored in the cabinet can be moved to the easier accessed front locations. And, if our "sports" shoes get muddy or wet, etc. we usually stash them in one of the outside storage compartments rather then bring them inside the rig. You just have to remember they're there when you get home.Hope this gives you some ideas,Jim & DebSanta Cruz, CA
Re: Shoe Storage Reply #5 – May 02, 2019, 01:26:15 pm Shoes can be amazingly compact. We can often store several pair tucked among other stored objects beneath the rearward dinette seat. Daily users are tucked underneath the dinette table near the wall. At any given time there might be 12 pairs of shoes of one type or another stashed away in the rig. 🤯 We regularly remove them before travel. Probably to make room for new foot wear arrivals. One pair in two pair out. Works for us.Kent 2 Likes

Everyone definitely has me thinking about how many shoes we'd need for a long trip and how much trouble it's worth to have a dedicated space just for shoes.
Re: Shoe Storage Reply #9 – May 02, 2019, 07:38:08 pm Hi, we just keep our shoes on the shelf in the wardrobe that's over the rod with the hangers. Seems to be enough room. Any extras go on the floor of the wardrobe. BTW, we did add a 4 drawer chest of drawers from Storables. It's actually 2 2-drawer pieces which we fixed into the wardrobe. Happily, the wood grain color almost exactly matches the color of the LD wood. Ian added small thumb locks on each side of each drawer and this has worked well so that the drawers don't roll out while on the road. The cabinets were a bit on the expensive side, but they have added greatly to the usefulness of the wardrobe and the amount of storage in our MB rig. They also look great and as if they are factory installed. There is still room for about 6 hangers for jackets etc. 1 Likes
Re: Shoe Storage Reply #10 – May 02, 2019, 08:13:27 pm I use a hanging fabric shoe bag similar to this one; many choices of single, double, and multiple pocket row bags on Amazon and many other sites. Amazon.com: Simple Houseware 10 Shelves Hanging Shoes Organizer Holder for...Shower shoes and a pair of slippers or moccasins fit in one pocket; hiking/walking/everyday shoes/ sandals require a pocket each. I cut three pockets off the bottom (7 pockets remaining) so the bag would clear the closet floor. Rain boots are stowed in an outside compartment or in the foot well on the passenger side; I travel solo, so this stash area would not work if somebody's feet are occupying that space. I carry versatile, multi-purpose shoes, "dress" shoes only if I have to, and if I run out of pockets, the shoes don't go. YMMV, as always. Re: Shoe Storage Reply #13 – May 03, 2019, 08:55:00 pm I recollect that Andy Baird kept shoes in the passenger side couch back...he changed the hinging from top to bottom and thus was able to open the little cabinet without things tumbling out.We store sleeping pillows behind that same couch back without changing the hinging at the top.. One can get 3 or 4 soft standard size pillows, or one foam pillow and 2 feather pillows, in there. Handy when making up the bed for daytime or for sleeping. TinaP2006 MB "Wild Thing" 1 Likes
