I messed up removing the evap cooler
I am putting in a Fan-Tastic fan in its place.
Got carried away trying to remove it and tore the roof beyond coverage point.

What should I do?
I have Dicor...or...?

I also have the mounting putty tape.

My plan is to install the fan with the putty tape of course then goop up my mistake with Dicor.

It's repairable.
If you have some Eternabond tape, you could put down a layer around the perimeter.
Another way would to cut an overlapping "L" shaped patch, out of sheet aluminum, and glue it into position with polyurethane, before mounting the New Fantastic Fan.
I prefer to glue the fans in place rather than using mounting tape, for a more permanent seal.

What glue do you use?

Could I Eternabond tape it then use glue for the install on top of the tape?
Thanks Larry.

While I would prefer the metal patch, Eternabond will work too.
Clean the tape well and use either polyurethane (preferred) or Dicor to seal the fan vent..

I found a smaller roll. 10'.
Working with aluminum isn't practical for me.

ETERNABOND

While I am ordering is there a brand and type of polyurethane glue you like?
3M 5200? Fast cure or will regular work?

Thin, aluminum roofing flashing can be cut with a heavy pair of scissors, tin snips or scored and cut with a utility knife.
3M 5200 Fast Cure is my sealant of choice

I can't get 5200 fast cure locally and I'm in a bit of hurry with rain coming this weekend.
Will this work for gluing the flashing down?

It's glued.
A 4.5" x 17" sheet of flashing.
I cut the damaged piece off.

I will add that I just ordered some 3M 5200 fast cure for the install. It'll be here Friday.

Just my two cents worth: rather than do a hasty job with a sealant that may not be best suited, I'd cut a piece of heavy plastic film (say, from a contractor bag), lay it over the whole area, tape it in place, and wait for a sunny day. (In an emergency you can use a shower curtain for roof repairs, but if it has a soap film, tape may not adhere well.)

Thanks Andy.
I used the Loc-Tite PL Marine fast cure just to glue in the flashing. I'll leave it clamped over 24 hours.
Tomorrow an order of 2 cartridges of 3M fast cure 5200 arrives with which I'll lay a bead down and then screw the fan housing into place.

I'm comfortable with this solution.
