Great shot, bobcats are one of the more illusive animals, all I seen in the wild is the tail end, running into the brush.
We had closer encounters with mountain lions. They are not afraid of us, just wary.
We have seen both bobcats and mountain lions tracks, hiking and biking in the hills around us.

It’s incredible that you were able to grab that picture.  That particular breed of Falcon while not the fastest flyer is extreamly shy.

OK, my turn, I guess.  First, an eagle at Caballo, NM.  Next, hawks at Elephant Butte, NM.  A moose with two calves, at the Tetons.  Yep, two.  One is behind Momma, showing just its behind.  A bison, three grizzlies and a half grown pronghorn at the Tetons.

Another bobcat sighting this morning. Taken from our guest bath window.

One morning, soon after moving into our present home on the edge of the hills, my wife spotted our indoor cat totally fluffed up and hissing at a bobcat walking across the back patio.
A couple years later, the evening news reported on a women being approached by a mountain lion, she was our neighbor.
Needless to say, we have few outside pets in the hood, what the cats don't eat, the coyotes do.
What scares me most are the skunks that come out at night.

At least you don't have a slow learner dog who has been surprised and skunked by the critters three times on a 2 a.m. piddle trip to the yard! Scrubbing a stinking, blind, choking, traumatized dog any time, but particularly in the middle of the night, is not a good experience - for the dog OR the (equally traumatized and stink-choked!) owner.   ::)

Joan, BTDT with a dog who insisted on climbing back into the bed with us after her encounter.  It felt very rude to be awakened in the middle of the night that way (she used a dog door to let herself in and out).  Our first skunk encounter and no tomato juice anywhere in the house, we gave her a "repeated wash and rinse" bath and that got the smell off enough to tolerate the night, getting better washing materials in the morning.  I was surprised that while the smell was strong, it was our eyes burning from the odor that hit us the hardest.

And after that, anytime a whiff of skunk smell came into the house she was charging outside barking her head off to "get" that skunk.  I would just calmly yell leave the skunk alone - falling on deaf ears of course, but no other emergency baths after the first one.  I think the skunks learned if they stay outside farm fencing that noisy dog can't get to them and it was safe to just ignore it.

Dogs and skunks;  They just go together.

Our last German Shepherd loved to run down the cat, roll him a few times and then hold him down for a good lick-over.  One evening, before making an early morning trip to Catalina, he managed to get out in the back yard, see a skunk, and roll the skunk like a kitty. We washed him with tomato juice, white vinegar, and even a rub down and rinse with baking soda.  Cyndy went to Petco and got some skunk de-stinkifier wash as well.  After the four washes and rinses, he was still skunky.

We took the clean, but still stinky dog to the island for our ten day trip.  Every time he went swimming and we dried him off, the whole boat smelled like we had a skunk in it.

Hi Greg;  I can't imagine that a fox would be much of a threat to a deer.  Now the cats would be easy prey for a fox, although cats have their resources.  RonB
