My contribution to rodent control so very off topic of covers but. . . .

Amazon.com : Rat Zapper Ultra Rodent Trap - No touch, No see disposal - Rat...

I have a small dog, love my wild birds and don't want to poison the neighborhood cats or raptors.  But I will control the population of chipmunks in my yard.  We do not have enough natural predators to keep the population under control.  This works amazingly well.  I toss in a handful of sunflower seeds and when the light turns red I dump the critter into the trash.   So after reading all these posts I will pack my rat zapper and deploy it as needed in rat prone areas.

Thanks I always learn something interesting when I read through these posts.

I also have the ADCO cover. They usually last me two years under the Southern California sun. Even though they aren’t cheap, I’d rather have the sun beat on the cover instead of the paint, interiors, tires, vent covers, etc. I have a good system for rolling the cover up like a burrito so it’s fairly easy to deal with. I have a 2010 MB and I think it still looks new; mainly due to the cover.

My brother lives in the mountains and his place is besieged with chipmunks. They cause a lot of damage.
He uses a solution that eliminates them but realize, they reproduce quickly and the battle is nearly continuous.
Google "bucket trap chipmunks".

I currently use it for chipmunks,  so I keep it on my back porch near the bird feeders and my gardens.  I do keep it inside a plastic tub with a hole drilled in the side since it is designed for interior use.  Chipmunks don't care about people, I have seen them watching me through the patio door.  I am thinking for rats while traveling we could put it under the hood for the night.

Found this little wood rat dead on a nest, built on top of Lorna's engine.

He is laying on a bed of the insulation that once lined the engine side of the doghouse. The missing insulation made the driver's side foot area almost too hot to drive. Next to the wood rat were the wires and rubber vacuum lines it ripped out of the way, eliminating control of the the air conditioning, heater and some engine parts that evidently were not too important, as the rig was still drivable.. Finally, there were about 200 acorns, enough to get through a cold Coursegold winter.
Let's say Lorna wasn't too happy about this and she has been back since for more repairs. Rodents love the doghouse insulation, it makes the best nest lining.
She is very interested in any legal and ecological way of getting rid of her nibbling friends (and so am I).
