New Ford Engine - V-8 7.0L
I found this on another RV Forum and thought the LD Faithful might find this information/speculation of interest, especially if you've not seen or hear about this new Ford engine.

The new motor will be here in 2020 and its a V-8 7.0 liter

Brian Maxim, a vice president at AutoForecast Solutions, said in a telephone interview with AutoNews that the “7.0-liter, V8 engine would have more torque and be more fuel efficient than the 6.8-liter V10 engine now built in Windsor and used in Ford’s super-duty trucks, such as its F-250s.”

Ford is primed to start offering the new 7.0L V8 in the Raptor in 2018 (as a 2020 model). We believe this was part of their strategy from day one; maximize the sales output of the initial Gen-2 production run, then offer a V8 option when the demand is high. Based on Ford’s recent model facelift campaigns, we also expect the 2020 Raptor to receive a facelift/refresh along with the new 10-speed transmission and 7.0L V8 motor option.

This will be interesting as Ford is rumored to be developing a 7.3 litre gasoline powered engine to replace the 6.8 litre V10. I think the code name is 'Godzilla' for the new engine.  Rumor has it that the 6.8 V10 will be discontinued.

This was interesting to me.

That sounds great but how much longer is the current E450, that may get this engine,  going to be in production....   any info?
Maybe this is not good news if this new engine is not going to be shoe horned into the current E450 and the V10 is on it's way out...    Frank

News/speculation about this 7.0L V-8 Ford engine came out a couple of years ago, as far as I know, but the only vehicles that I could find where the engine will be used (so far) are the 2019 Raptor pickup (and the Shelby GT500?). The 6.8L V-10 will likely be an engine of the past one of these days, and the 7.0L V-8 may be used in more lines of Ford vehicles, and those lines will also very likely change, e.g., Ford is bringing back (with whatever re-design updates they feel will sell) the "mid-size" Ranger pickup; very little stands still in any field of technological R&D.

Talking with various Ford tech reps at car and RV shows, they say the E450 will be in production as long as U-Haul keeps buying them.
Evidently, most E450s are converted into cargo vans or shuttle buses.
Until there is an adequate replacement that can take the abuse of the E450, I would assume Ford will keep it in production.
Sprinters need not apply.
After so many years of production, to amortize the development cost, Ford needs to invest very little money in the E450 each year, enabling them to sell the chassis at a very competitive price and still make money on it.

A Goggle search shows no information on the new 7.0-L engine replacing the 6.8-L V10, instead the 7.0-L is reported to replace the 6.2-L engine, now used in the Ford's F-series trucks. Depending on how wide the new 7.0 engine is, it may not fit in the E450's engine bay. Considering the engineering needed to swap motors, I doubt if Ford is willing to spend the money on a chassis that may not be around much longer.  Ford may need or want to discontinue the production of the V10. Who knows?
The 7.0-L, with the new 10-speed transmission, would be a sweet combination in an E450, one that Ford could sell for many years more.
Time will tell.
