New front swivel seats on an old 1980s chevy? September 18, 2018, 05:20:35 pm I am thinking about replacing the front passenger seat (maybe driver's too?) with swivel seats or at least the base. Has anyone done this? Does the doghouse get in the way? Because of the floor plan, the driver's seat in mine would only be able to swivel 1/4 turn but the passenger could turn all the way around.....

Re: New front swivel seats on an old 1980s chevy? Reply #3 – September 19, 2018, 12:57:22 pm Many older LDs came with one or two swivel seats. How many depended on if the seat(s) could be rotated without running into something. The LDs that did swivel do not have shoulder belts, instead just having seat belts, allowing the occupant to have the seat swiveled and still be able to wear the seat belt.LDs built without swivels seat had shoulder belts. It would not be possible to properly wear a shoulder belt with the seat swiveled. I have never seen an older, Factory-equipped LD with both swivel seats and shoulder belts.Swivel seat bases are probably still available from van interior supply companies.Larry
