battery turn off switch
I'm replacing the water pump on my 2016 MB.  I'm pulling out the converter for access.  When I go to the battery compartment and turn off the power switch, which has always cut off power to the coach before, it doesn't work.  I still have power to the coach.   Is the switch bad?   I assume trying to do this water pump exchange with the power on is not wise...   The switch feels normal.


Found what appears to be replacement - a Waytek brand.    Frank

Frank to clarify, you are turning off the battery power switch but inside the coach you still have battery operated devices (dc12 appliances and plugs) working)? Or are you saying the 120 power is on but the 12v is off?

You could just pull the fuse for the pump.

Using a device like a multimeter to measure the power right at the pump wiring is the best way to know the pump does not have power.

The 12 volt system within the coach remains on.  I'm not plugged in so don't know about 110.   I just turned it on when leaving storage to bring it home.   In storage it was off and turned on ok there.   When I got home it would not turn off again.

Do you have solar providing power to the batteries from a solar converter?  If so, you need to pull the fuse for it as well.  Mine is located inside my converter box.

yes, I'm in bright sun so the battery turn off switch is likely working but  solar is continuing to work the lights and radio... got it.   thanks!

Speaking of battery shut off switches, I just received one from Lazy Daze (same as in the photos below) which I will install soon. What do I need to shut off to attach the two cables? I have solar. Thanks to Steve Kocan for the photos.

I sent you a PM with the pics of page 37 & 38 from my ‘15 manual. These pages cover important details on the coach batteries.

In regards to the cut off switch and power still available to the house 12 volt system, the manual states that the cut off switch will not disable/cut power from the solar panels. They will need to be switched off at the breaker panel otherwise power is still being supplied to those 12 volt outlets.

Thanks, Kent. Guess I could have looked at my manual, too. I forget how complete the LD manual is.
