A whole summer has passed and I didn't even get to try out my LD :(
Hi all,

After all my initial excitement over my LD, life kind of got in the way and I still haven't gotten to take it anywhere other than repair shops. I hit my head a couple months after I bought it and the subsequent post concussion syndrome really took a toll. After taking my LD for front end work, I then took it to a body shop in San Jose where it's been ever since. Obviously I should have gotten it back months ago, but the sad reality is that I can't really drive it right now, having hit my head AGAIN recently which worsened my symptoms more, and it seemed to make more sense to leave it at the shop and not bother them so I could use my driveway for a small inflatable pool during the summer...
Anyway, now that summer is pretty much over, it's about time to pick her up and I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep more of my backyard while still having my LD parked in my very long driveway. Problem is, I can't recall JUST how wide it is, and whether I might be able to remove some bushes and fill in a bit of dirt on the side of my driveway so I can have both more yard AND my moving guest home.

Can someone please refresh my memory on the width of these things? I know legally it can't exceed 8' 6", but I'm hoping mine (1991 22' MP) is actually 8' as that would allow a bit more leeway in where I park it.

Thanks!

Lisa, the dimensions of my 2013 LD (8' 4") probably wouldn't help, but I found some background music for your post
Summers almost gone....
Hope the dogs enjoyed the pool.

The 1991 Factory literature shows the 22' MP as 94" wide, plus 12" for the mirrors.

Thank you! I was trying to find that literature as I remember finding an old brochure online somewhere, but I could not find it again tonight. Would you mind providing a link?

Thanks,

And is there any way to move the mirrors?? Like fold them in? I don't recall mine being movable, but figured I'd ask.

Lisa,

To refresh your memory here is an ad/video of a 1992 LD. The mirrors look to be stationary. You may be able to change the mirrors.

Best of all with your recovery. Be safe.

Thanks for this! And very interesting to see! This is pretty much my RV. Same make, model, color but a year later. What's really interesting is the bumper- I just had mine replaced because the rust was so, so bad. They did not find any problems under it on the body, thankfully, but the worst rust/ starting point (you could see it had spread from a couple very  bad points), are the same as the bare spots on the bumper on the RV in the video.  I wonder what the drip point is? The one in the video is missing the ladder, so unless it'd been recently removed, it wouldn't seem to correlate with that. Plus there is another spot on the other side of the bumper from where the ladder should be.
I hope my new bumper doesn't end up with same problem.

Ladders were an option on the early models.

Oh man, just watched more of the video. I had to laugh when he opened an overhead compartment and said he didn't see any evidence of leaks, right as he pans in on the wrinkled wall covering that, to me, looks like evidence of water intrusion.

Lisa,

I noticed the wrinkled paper wall cover and thought it funny how he didn’t edit out his comment. That and the $500 roof reseal estimate.

They say misery loves company. I bought a new to me Lazy Daze just a couple days before memorial day last May. I bought it from a private party and instead of driving it home, I drove it to a repair shop. I just got it back 2 days ago ugh.......... took f-o-r-e-v-e-r I even at one point called in the California Automotive Bureau to check on it for me, seems they had 48 other vehicles there and were just really really busy. But now that I got it back, it will go right back to a shop to do work on the house part. I hope I get to take it somewhere besides a repair shop by next Memorial Day ugh

Where did you take it? I wonder if it's the same place?? San Jose?

I’m curious why you called the “CA Automotive Bureau” for a check? Did the business blow you off when you called them to check on the repair progress? Did you get a repair time estimate when you took it in, and have you been in contact with the shop periodically for updates?

Just wondering...

Also wondering what you had done and if it was done right.

Different shop, it was down in Murrieta California. But they were not good at all about updating me! I would call several times over a period of weeks. EVERY single time I called they gave me the same line, "It was on the rack today and they were working on it, I will have someone call you back right away." then no one would call me back! Murrieta is a 5 hour drive from me too (it was close to the seller's home though).

What did I have done? lol a poop load!!! Lube oil and filter service, remove and replace fuel filter, remove and replace transmission oil pan gasket and filter and adjust transmission vaccuum modulator, remove and replace main bearing oil seal, rear main seal kit, oil pan gasket set, valve cover gasket remove and replace, valve cover gasket set, fuel pump gasket, replace all tires, repack front wheel bearings, wheel bearing dust cap, brake rotor and hub assembly, brake pads, flush cooling system, replace radiator hose lower and upper and heater hose, new front shocks, brake fluid flush and inspection, remove and replace the gear vendor overdrive, etc. Basically, go thru everything and replace all rubber and a few upgrades. On another post in this group a few months ago I asked what to do with $5000 and took that list to the auto shop. It ended up costing north of $5800, but that's ok.

Hmm, I had my transmission rebuilt and it took about a week at the transmission shop, and then I had a bunch of front end work, brakes, etc., which took another week or so at a truck shop. The shop that is taking forever is working on the body, and they've told me it takes forever to get parts from the mothership, plus there are a few parts (hinges for the various covers I smashed in on the sides of the house) they claim have to come directly from the manufacturer, saying LD only carries the whole assembly. In other words, all mechanical was pretty quick, but the body work is taking forever. Still, worked out for me since I couldn't do much with it with a head injury. And the extra yard space in the summer has been nice.
