Just an FYI August 24, 2018, 03:11:46 pm Just thought some might be interested. Couple nights ago we had torrential rains, and the swamp cooler and forward vent got swamped and leaked profusely into the coach. I had area rugs on the floor and they got SOAKED, but the COACH CARPET STAYED DRY!!! All that water and it didn’t seep through.!!!I hung the soaked rugs over the fence to dry, it only took 2 hours and they were completely dry. They came out fine, no puckers or water marks.The sizes are good for RVs, you can get a 3 rug set, delivered for under 100 bucks. It serves as the "Lady Lair", the "pool house" the "art studio" and the "guest room" as well as the usual travel-camping-motorhome. The installed carpet would be an absolute disaster in very short order without some sort of protection and the most viable form of protection are area rugs. Since You and JCT are 'guys' I'll cut you some slack and explain that; finding a set of 3 matching area rugs, that are well made, can be washed with a pressure sprayer, are not outright ugly and cost under 125 bucks delivered, is a RARE and GOOD find. If they also turned out to be water repellent, rug savvy people would want to know!!It would be like, during a flood in which you lost power, you discovered your flashlight could also keep the water out of your house. """I park the bus all over our property and none of it is level. So, I didn't check the little bubble-level indicators the last time I parked it. Well apparently I managed to find the one level spot on 6 acres, just in time for this huge storm. I could not believe the amount of water that poured off the roof when I moved it the next morning. Lake Steve is RIGHT!!!Lesson learned!!! It is now parked on an angle that makes one feel like they are in a fun house!!

Are there holes in the aluminum (other than the ones that are supposed to be there, e.g., vents, etc.)? Are you talking about doing the entire roof with EPDM sheeting? Or just slapping some "roofing goop" over the bad spots? If the roof seams need re-sealing, why not use Eternabond? Frankly, I think that the shops who are refusing to do this job are making the right decision, but YMMV. It would forever banish you from the Mothership ever ever doing any roof work from now until doomsday, for you or some subsequent owner. It will, as a result, lower the resale price! The reason for an aluminum roof is to provide a complete barrier to water intrusion as long as the edge seams are kept sealed properly. This system has worked just fine for the past 70 years.

Luckily, I am surrounded by State Trust Land and Public Land, literally 100s of thousands of acres of unpopulated land that has nice flat, solid, unpaved roads meandering through it.I do have to get on this awful 2 lane highway sometimes and drive 5 to 15 miles to access those roads, but hey, no pain no gain!!Last Christmas, my neighbor and her daughter rode their horses through the streets of my 'hood singing Christmas Carols. There is still carpet in the cab area. The tile is in excellent condition. Picture #2 is from the back to the cab, We pulled out the back carpet and put in a piece of light colored vinyl. You have to pull or tap down the staples it only took a few minutes. Save the carpet for a pattern, cut your vinyl slightly larger and trim to fit when you get it inside. Spread vinyl adhesive and lay your vinyl. Transition strips are available at all big box home improvement stores. Just cut with a tin snip and nail down with provided nails. Picture #3 is under the dinette. We did put some carpet squares under the table because there had been carpet there over the bolts that hold up the generator. Our 4 legged friend likes to lay underneath when we eat our meals. (ever hopeful) I do keep a small rug at the top of the steps to trap more sand, it is easy to pick up and shake out. We only travel with the Lazy Daze door mat, I am not willing to use space for a larger outdoor rug. That space is occupied by my kite collection. tlbh2o 2 Likes
