That's how I feel when I see a dentist!! When you are driving, do you often see your dentist following you?Just wondering.Larry 2 Likes

Or maybe you work for Facebook?I work for the CIA, by the way . . . Chortle...chortle...guffawGreat thread...love learning about others' adventures.1st job @ 14--detassling seed corn for MFA in 1969...pulled the tassels for six rows/left two rows w/ tassels & repeated for what seemed like miles (I was 5'1 3/4" back then...now back down to 5'...& had to practically bend the stalk in half to reach the top). They paid $2.35/hr--Mother thought we grossly overpaid since she'd only been paid $.25/hr during/post WW II, plus hauled us to the fields in cattle trucks (certainly couldn't get away with that today).Post-grad school: taught school/4-H Specialist/community mental health therapist/farm wife/momLast real job: psychologist for the Missouri Dept. of Corrections for 16 years 'til a privatization of services in 2005 led to the layoff of all state staff. I cobbled together some part-time gigs teaching GED & eldercare, & since my sister & I settled our parents' estates in 2011 I whack & spray brush, and have some rental properties, but I'd still be in prison if I could, c'est la vie...I'm very blest.Lynne 2 Likes

Re: Who, What, Where and When? Reply #58 – August 08, 2018, 11:23:40 pm Rik, we were cruisin' the Western Pacific close to the same time. I did two on the USS Cleveland in '76 and '78. Small world.Did another on the Samuel Gompers in '88. Got my Shellback on that one! For those who don't know what that is, it's a lot of fun. Sailors will be sailors. Re: Who, What, Where and When? Reply #59 – August 09, 2018, 07:01:52 pm I never got mine. We were supposed to go to Singapore for R&R, and dip south a little to cross the line, but instead got ordered to steam at flank speed to the Sea of Japan to respond to the downing by a North Korean MIG of an unarmed navy EC-121 (tri-tail Lockheed Constellation) reconnaissance plane, killing 31 crew members. A lot of furious steaming, but no action taken. No retaliation ever followed. Sad time in our history. Sidenote: my first airplane flight was on a Connie, ca 1953. Back then they handed out a plastic wings pin to every child. Kept mine for a long time. I’ve always thought the Connie was the most beautiful plane ever built. There’s a beautiful Connie on display at the Museum of Flight just south of Seattle. We’ve been to air museums all over the country (including D.C.), and I think the MOF is the best. We visited it after viewing the Boeing plant, and blogged about it here: Houn's Journal: TAKE FLIGHT— Jon 1 Likes
