Re: Favorite Lazy Daze Pets Reply #36 – November 12, 2017, 12:32:45 pm Amazing that Bad Little Kitty was not only the picture of our Ms (pronounced Mizzz) Spunky, but also of the same fierce temperament! Right to the end! She nominally shared the house with us and Scooter, a big Maine Coon. The house, at least 1900 SF and with a full basement, was never big enough for the two of them at the same time...always, one in and one out. And they would not share food or water dishes...so we had two of each pair...set up in different locations which could not be seen from the other...and Mizzz and Scooter sorted it out that of each pair, the other's water dish next to the food dish of one...so if Mizzz wanted to drink "her" water, she had to wait until Scooter finished "his" food. They did partner up to achieve mutual goals, as in: One 2:00 a.m. or so, we were awakened to the sound of someone/thing trying to get through a window in the other room...we ran in to see that Mizzz Spunky had climbed about 6 feet of brick wall of the exterior to the open awning style window, had scooched under the opening, and was plucking at the screen to attract our attention. Scooter was sitting patiently on the lawn, looking at her, waiting for her to achieve the goal. Ahh, so many stories about that little fierce kitty.TinaP2006 MB 4 Likes

Re: Favorite Lazy Daze Pets Reply #40 – November 14, 2017, 01:46:21 am Enough to give a body "baby fever!" ...unfortunately, my cousin is so allergic that I can't, or else she can't ever visit/travel with me, but oh, my, what a sweetie.RE: "He is terrorizing our Doberman!! How can a 85 lb dog be afraid of a 1 lb kitten? LOL!!" One word: Toenails Allows a cat to train a dog in just a few quick lessons.Lilly's best friend as a puppy was the neighbor's cat...he'd come sit on the brickwork outsides the bay window, she'd go all terrier on me 'til I let her out, she'd run around him & they'd play a bit of tag, but when Smokey was done he'd just lie down in the grass--it just took a few times of the toenails coming out for her to learn when he was done. Unfortunately, he had to find a new home when the son developed an allergy. Lynne 1 Likes

Re: Favorite Lazy Daze Pets Reply #42 – November 29, 2017, 06:37:31 pm Some months ago we lost Zelda our 14 year old Cocker/Poodle mix. Seen below with Kona, who left before Zelda.Given that Zelda was in advanced years Gina and I both knew that the end was coming. We both decided that we wanted to rase our next dog from a puppy and that it should be a standard poodle. Kona, our first poodle, and Link who we got through Poodle Club of America Rescue was/is an out standing dog(s). We thought it would be difficult time consuming and expensive to get a well bread poodle. We started putting our names out there but thought we should check in with PCA Rescue just to be sure we were not dealing with a puppy mill or someone known to work on the shady side of dog breading. Our contact was not currently breading her dog, but would look out for us. We were asked if we had a preference to the puppy's sex or color. We did not, just that it conformed with a PCA standard. Gina competed with Link (the rescued dog) and placed at the novice level in obedience and agility at the PCA show some years ago (very unusual for a rescue dog to even compete, much less place). The reason we were a little picky was that Gina might take our next dog to events at some level. A few days later we got a call about a puppy. I traveled some distance to pick her up. Met Fae, a 15 week old female Standard Poodle. Fae went camping this Thanksgiving and enjoyed living in the Lazy Daze with all the turkey action and what not. 4 Likes

Re: Favorite Lazy Daze Pets Reply #49 – July 21, 2018, 07:52:53 pm What kind of pets do you have and what are some things you do to keep them safe and comfortable while traveling and camping with them?I don’t use my bus for long distance travel, but since I live in an unpopulated desert area, I boondock locally on state land (w/in 50 miles) about every 2 weeks. Mainly to keep the battery, tires and various systems ‘limber’. I have 3 dogs, from left to right, Timmy, an Irish Wolf hound, 130lbs. Bijel, a deaf lurcher, 50lb. Huck, a dog with a diverse gene pool, 115lbs. (photo1)I use a wet towel w/ fan for cooling, if needed and a 25 foot biothane tracking lead that allows them to go in and out as they please, but still be safe. (photo 2 and 3)The little deaf dog can’t tolerate a harness or collar for long periods, so the door stays closed. (photo 4)And to get an idea of their personalities, here is a meme I made during the last Presidential Election. (photo 5) 2 Likes
