Tomorrow’s the day, we pick up our LD!
Hoping we have all our ducks 🦆 lined up, insurance in force, and a safe return home. I read somewhere that the first 24 hours anyone drives a vehicle new to them, to be extra cautious, and I will be.

We started off looking at Class B’s at last years RV show, due to our narrow driveway, but Kristy talked me into a class C.

She thought the small size of a Class B, a small bathroom & and lack of big windows was to limiting, she said “I’m not going to enjoy hanging out in here”

The first time I saw a LDaze on the showroom floor I was hooked, those huge windows, and it oozes quality. The more we read about how they were made, how long it took to built and all the postings here we felt it was right for us.

Thank you all for your answers to our “rookie” questions, and encouragement, I just hope it fits, it’s going to be tight!

We ordered white/gray  2018 27' mid bath 1/3/18 and we are hoping for a July 16th 2019 delivery, sold, and tried a Lithium Travato, wish  I would have kept the Lazy Daze 27’

Ok...So Steve recently asked if we could spell Spy...hmmm, now I wonder can we all spell PARTY at Tigers NEW Lazy Daze? 🎉🎉🎉🎉

So it’s true...There is a Christmas in July.

When we picked up our New RB, I was nervous about driving Miss B. Haven home on the darn 605 during rush (can you spell bumper-to-bumper?) hour traffic, so I didn’t. Instead we had a nice dinner near the Mothership and found a Dollar Theatre nearby and enjoyed (I was thinking about the rig sitting in the parking lot the whole time) Hotel Transylvania 2.

I was glad to see the rig still in the parking lot. And the wait was worth it. Traffic was minimal and we made it home in one piece.

However you do it, enjoy the drive back to Long Beach. Don’t be too upset when you see our LD sitting in your new driveway. It’s gorgeous. 😝

Congratulations in advance! My guess is your cheeks will be somewhat sore tomorrow evening from smiling so hard all day long driving your new LD :)

So, how long was your total wait and if you had to place your order again would you have done anything differently?

Thanks, It was about a year I think, I don’t know what I would change, got to go camping in it to find out

Kent we are tenting the house for termites, so don’t come over lol Something tells me this fib won’t work.

So do we break champagne 🍾 over the bow? How do “Lazy Dazers” do it?

The tradition of christening a new ship for good luck and safe travel goes way back. Many ancient seafaring societies had their own ceremonies for launching a new ship. The Greeks wore olive branch wreaths around their heads, drank wine to honor the gods, and poured water on the new boat to bless it. The Babylonians sacrificed an ox, the Turks sacrificed a sheep, and the Vikings and Tahitians offered up human blood....BLOOD??

Congratulations!  It is a great feeling to know you have the best you can get...and even more fun when people constantly come up to you and ask if it's a "new paint job".  Have fun.

Have someone behind the rig to guide you into its niche the first time or two.
Congratulations.
Drink a toast to its homecoming, not forgetting the libation to the gods. Pour a little on the drive in front of it.

From the looks of that new driveway it appears that you have a golden opportunity to install 30amp service at the side of the house and possibly a water line as well.   ;)

Hope to soon see a pic of your new rig in that driveway. Guess you can enter and exit through the escape hatch in the cabover.  :D  Just kidding, congrats.

I have never understood why we make a conscious decision to back our vehicles into constrained spaces with limited visibility and pull out into very unconstrained areas with excellent visibility. We are risking much backing in and gaining nothing pulling out.

Logic says pulling forward into a constrained space and taking advantage of great visibility is always a good choice whereas backing up with limited visibility into a larger unconstrained area is beneficial also. We are gaining a great deal of control and safety pulling in. Why do we oppose this common sense?

I have read so many accounts of people backing into things over the years including other people - backing up into a tight area is logically the absolute last choice to make.  :o

As a proud Cal State, Long Beach grad, glad to see Long Beach represented!!!!!!  Congrats!!!  Still remember picking up ours back in 2013...christened with a trip to Zion when I saw somebody cancelled their spot there and we grabbed it....still working full-time so we use ours for vacations and camping trips....headed to the local mountains (we also live in So Cal) with our granddaughter in a few weeks.....when she was 4 years old (now 7) she began referring to the LD as "her motorhome" :)

IT FITS!! The Lazy Daze fits! What a big day, glad that is behind me.

We got us early to drive to the Mothership. The “Davis Tigers” LD was still being prepped. When I spoke to Vince, we were joking around, so asked him to treat me half as good as he treats Kent H, and I would be happy.
He mentioned something he wishes was in the manual, he said if we go beach camping, to wash the rig off, ASAP on our return,, to prevent future salt/sand/moisture  issues I think.

Things went pretty well, after the extensive 2.5 hour orientation, we found the day/night shades needed a minor adjustment so we went and had lunch. While that was being done, we walked a couple minutes over to the restaurant row nearby, a 3 minute walk. They have a Panda Express, Subway, McDonalds, DQ and a fast food type Mexican place we wanted to try they recommended, but it was too hot to eat outside. It’s right past the Trailer Park Estates, to the left of LD.

The orientation started about an hour later than planned, so we amused ourselves in the showroom models, the kids were estatic, finally seeing what we have been talking about for so long. Playing house, talking about future camping and beach trips we have planned. We will start with some day beach trips, then Malibu State Park, then Leo Carrrlio, the Crystal Cove etc. We hope to camp/do a beach day, monthly once or twice thru January so far.

We mentioned, then forgot to get the windshield wrap around thing, and forgot to get the snap on vent covers, so I have to call tomorrow and make a plan to get them. Also a couple cabinet doors need minor stain touch up.

Well it’s been a big day, it fits in the driveway, past the gates, electrical boxes, rain gutters and a few things we were worried about. We may have to trim one of our house eves a little. Right now it feels like it was worth the wait. It’s allot to keep track of right now, hopefully it will get easier. The learning  curve is steep in the beginning.

We are hoping that camping with our teenagers and their friends will lead to memorable, wonderful family times together, that’s the point of all of this. Hope to meet some of you camping, stop by and say hello, maybe we can have some coffee and conversation!

Are the solar panels being mounted differently now? This is the first time I have seen them this way. Previously I have seen them mounted longitudinally adjacent to the AC which may result in the panel being partially shaded.

The pic in the driveway answers the Chet's question on why back it into a narrow enclosed space:  "So you can load it conveniently".

Put eave trimming on your to-do list before you trim it with the LD.

"Steep learning curve" is a good thing, mapping knowledge increase over time.  Learning quickly in other words.

Vince didn’t grimace when you mentioned my name I hope. I’m sure he’d prefer that you steer clear of you-haul trailers...😖

The kids are going to love the LD.

It’s been a long wait, day and you need to get to dreamin’ about all those LDA’s (Lazy Daze Adventures). Don’t forget to enjoy a burger at Jalama Beach. Just a short drive up the coast.

See you all at Serrano some time. I’ve got that place booked through November.

Good question Joel. I wish I could tell you. It just grew by one so that’s two that I’m certain of. Now if Tiger just throws that BBQ for us locals, we’ll have a better count.

At this point it is definitely a work in progress. Any suggestions?
