Keeping the site next to you open
Here's an extreme way to keep the campsite next to you open.

Or encourage the traveling Polka Band to set up camp next to you and bug you about sitting on a Polka Jam Session.

Years ago at Chiricahua, we were serenaded with a harp. Yeah, the big kind. After a few hours, the tinkling of it was annoying. She carried it in an SUV.

I can not play any instrument. What's with the guys with guitars who strum one or notes for an hour? Is that relaxing to them?

I am a retired musician who played for his supper for a few years 35 years ago before embarking on a real career but I don’t bring my guitar while camping. I find it to be annoying as well when others do. I keep thinking of John Belushi in Animal House. 🤣

The real problem these days have been a couple millennial groups with their shiny new Winnebago trailers with the speakers built into the outside wall. Party on Garth!!

God help us with this new brand of camper.

I'm really what I call a live and let live type of guy.   I truly don't care what most do as long  as what they are doing doesn't hurt me or anyone else ...... so here we are camping literally on a Pacific Ocean when a group of  folks showed up with drums.  They set up a few rather large tepees.  Built a very large fire on the beach then ......  beat on the drums rejoicing it seems the new moon.     It was enjoyable for about two minutes.   According to DW they  kept it up to midnight or so.   <smile> in the morning around 5 or 6 I had to restrain DW from running the generator.

Can't imagine where we will find room to store a tuba in the rig.
Maybe an inflatable one?
When a big group of tent campers is eyeing the site next to us, starting the generator seems to discourage them.

And what's up with newer RVs coming with outside big screen TVs and speakers?

A friend who disliked camping and communal potties, but would reluctantly go with hubby and kids, would reserve her own personal cubicle with an 'Out of Order' sign on the door...

As a permanent alternate in Marching Mizzou, I was a clarinet often stuck in to fill a spot in the sousaphone-baritone rank when a bari would be gone for whatever reason caused them to miss a football game (sousaphones never seemed to miss a game)...the spiral run-on from the end zone always seemed a bit claustrophobic--since the baris & sousaphones are the back rank (& therefore the final one to run on) we were on the inside of the spiral.

When I was teaching, I sponsored a club and took high school students camping, fishing, and other outdoor fun. When camping I would mention to incoming neighbors that we planned on 20 kids, 15 to 18 years old.
They usually chose a different spot.
Taking kids camping was always fun, a bunch of work, and often the first time they had ever done it. During the planning and prep, I would say " never again". After we came home, we were always looking forward to next time.

When my daughter joined the Brownies, the younger branch of Girl Scouts of America (GSA), my wife volunteered me to be the camp person.  In the Girl Scout world any adult running a camping trip must be a certified camp leader. To get that certification one must also be a certified Girl Scout Leader.
  At the time I worked at the Department of Justice as a watch officer.  My six year old daughter very proudly informed a FBI security detail that her daddy was a Girl Scout Leader.  I always got some ribbing for that.  A lot of respect too, but always after the rubbing it in.

It was very rewarding taking the kids camping.

Hurray for you, John!  Reminded me of the clip I saw on the news about the barrister helping his toddler with stage fright.  Father Dances With Nervous Daughter On Stage During Ballet Recital (Video) |...

The father of my son's best friend would help out in the church nursery, even after our boys were past that stage.  I always appreciate men who show daughters & sons (as well as others' kids) the full range of masculinity.  I know it's early, but Happy Father's Day to all of you who have fathered your own brood & mentored others.
