New Lazy Daze Owners!!
Hello Everyone, just figured I’d introduce us since I’ve already started asking questions out of the blue!!

Me and my wife just celebrated our first year of marriage and we did so by buying an RV! We spend a lot of time outdoors and have been camping/hiking/backpacking for years.  We recently took up Mountain biking and decided we wanted an adventure vehicle for weekend getaways, we thoroughly considered converting a high top van for a few months.   The cost of a dodge promaster was high, we considered class B campers but the my are crazy expensive and while they are much easier to drive they are fairly tight considering we take a 60 pound Belgium malinois everywhere we go.

We ended up checking out class C campers and fell in love with the space/amenities. Sadly Finding an affordable class C without unrepairable delamination is nearly impossible.

At random a lazy daze came up for sale 1 hour from us? It’s a 2000 26.5 RB with 141k on the ticker.  Original owners sold it 2 years ago to a dude that didn’t use it much, it was miticulpusly maintained and garaged for 16 years but also thoroughly used.  I made 4 visits to inspect it, drove it and eventually concluded that in our price range it was superior to anything we would find.

Brought it home for 15k, everything works.  Some end cap resto is on the horizon but bumper to bumper it is an extremely well cared for RV.  Everything works, the interior shows virtually zero signs of wear and tear which is surprising since it spent 16 years visiting every state minus Hawaii.

We plan to do a little renovation/digging for any hidden water damage. Roof will be sealed with eternabond just to give peace of mind.  Other than that we plan to boondock/ride bikes on the weekends and take it wherever we can.  We are in our mid twenties and we look forward to learning from everyone here on the forum! Cheers from North Carolina and hopefully we will see some of y’all in the coming years out in the wild!!

Hello and welcome to the LD Owners' Forum.  And congratulations on your LD.  I can only hope you'll find as much fun and adventures in your rolling home as we have found in our rolling home.  I think you learn in short order that this neighborhood is full of kind folks from all walks of life and from every corner of North America.  As importantly, this neighborhood has a virtual garage for all things related to Lazy Daze RVs to include an amazing amount of expertise.  And finally, thank you for your introduction.  Safe travels Lazy Daze Owner!

Welcome to the group!  My first LazyDaze RV was a 1994 RB; same floor plan but with the big V8, not the V10 you have.  You can find help here in this group for whatever ails you or your RV!

Note the fake windows on the front of the cab-over come from the factory painted black. Perhaps the entire rig has been repainted? If just the 'windows', it may be because the original black paint does not weather well, so a PO decided to do a cosmetic spot repaint only.

I have investigated this and I believe it was requested unpainted from the factory!

Unusual, the Factory refused to leave our 2003's front windows unpainted.
I have heard the same from many others.
The buyer must have caught Steve on a good day.

Welcome "Cor2Man,"
As a cycling addict myself, I can attest to the Lazy Daze's suitability as an incredible basecamp from which to bike in amazing locations around the USA and beyond. You're going to absolutely love it. Congratulations!

I'm sure you know this, but never assume your bikes are safe on the outside of your LD - even when locked to a rack. It's way too easy to cut the rack off the vehicle and take bikes and rack. It happens all the time out here. If you are going to leave the rig and bikes for any amount of time, the safest thing is to put the bikes inside the rig.

We almost lost ours in Eugene, Oregon visiting a brewery. My wife noticed I had left them on the back on the rack and asked if I didn't want to put them inside. So I walked back to the RV and spotted a guy with backpack (tools) walking toward our LD who ran away as soon as he saw me. You can't be too safe these days.

Did yours have a curtain mounted across the front inside of the cabover? If not, and there are no signs rods were removed, then you may be right. If the curtain is in place or has been removed, it seems unlikely the windows were left white from the factory. Many LD owners have removed the silly inside curtain and rods, including us.

Mine has what appears to be a partial track for a faux curtain but no actual curtain or Rod.

Welcome to the site!  We too purchased are new to us LD earlier this year (2001 30TB with 90k) and are in love with her.  We also are in NC along the coast.  Folks here are great and can answer most questions that arise.  If you have a chance read the LD Companion on the homepage, it has answered many of my questions. Enjoy your new rig and keep an eye open for Maeve along the highways of eastern NC.
