Nope, just the Martin factory.  Interesting place to visit.  Have a great trip, and if you happen to need service anywhere near Wolf Point, Mt., the Ford dealership there is great.  Many years ago they were super when we broke down with my 1986 Ford Truck/Camper with 4 kids and a blown up distributor.  The owner was willing to put us all up till he could get a replacement.  Great people, in the middle of a lonely stretch of US 2.

Heading to Braintree, Vermont for the Northeast Lazy Daze Caravan Club Fall Rally.  The rally will be held September 12 - 16 at Able Mountain Campground.  Details on how to reserve a site are on our group website.  All Lazy Daze owners are welcome.

Glenn, we have used a mail forwarding service for a few years, but ended it after dealing with all the official change of addresses needed for voting (we do it by mail here), registrations, insurance, etc. In spite of reducing mail to a minimum, too many important things are “do not forward”, and require a permanent change of address.

We worked with the post office to hold and forward mail.  Our local P.O. is notoriously incompetent, and have messed up our few articles of real mail with aggravating reulsts.  They do really well with junk mail though.

Our neighbors watch our home and collect mail for us, acting as our mail service.  We buy them presents. It works great.

With respect to mail forwarding:  We have hired a caretaker to check the inside of the condo (heat, water leaks, etc....so far none) and to pick up the mail.  I leave an initial $100 cash and send more when necessary to cover the cost of mailing the USPS One-Rate Priority Mail boxes...up to 75 lbs each and "if it fits, it ships."  Every few weeks we ask to have a box sent to our planned or exact location.

So far, no problems in 11 years.  Longest it has taken to get a box has been 7 days...during the Christmas Rush to a West Coast location from an East Coast location.  Otherwise, 3 or 4 days.

I highly recommend this method.

We don't rely on friends or family...if something goes amiss or not as requested, it can be a problem and creates the expectation of reciprocity.  We prefer a pure business transaction and that keeps it impersonal.

Lately our LD has been a rolling hotel with very few nights in actual campgrounds.

Earlier this year we overnighted at a farm for a wilderness first aid class and spent a few nights wallydocking at a hot air balloon festival.

We have another hot air balloon festival this month.

Who knows what the summer will bring?  I hope to get some trips to the NC mountains, but lately our RV trips seem to be last minute instead of well planned.

We have at least one hot air balloon festival (notice a pattern?) in the fall and we're hoping for a fall leaf season / fishing trip.

We have a multi-week trip planned…
We start by driving from Cardiff to Paso Robles where we will enjoy a bit of biking and wine, though not simultaneously.
Sonoma/Kenwood/Dry Creek Valley is next (more of the same).
Visiting our grandchildren in the SF bay area is next (oh yeah, our son and daughter-in-law too).
I’m fairly certain we will be exhausted by the time we head to Grass Valley to visit with friends and to attend the Strawberry Music Festival.
Humboldt Redwoods are next (Hidden Springs and Elk Prairie) for hiking and biking.
Emigrant Lake/Ashland, Oregon to visit family and friends.
The volcanic scenic byway to Manzanita Lake/Lassen for the sheer beauty (hiking and maybe some canoeing too).
Overnight stop at Topaz Lake on our way to the Alabama Hills for our first true boondocking experience.
We are looking forward to it all!

Have you ever been to Topaz?? I don't rate it too highly! It's okay for a fuel pit-stop (Nevada gas is usually cheaper than CA) but the RV Park is a sardine can and you are so far above the lake as to be nearly invisible.

As an alternate I would recommend the USFS Campground at 'Oh Ridge', located just off the Hwy on the south end of the June Lake Loop. You have far better access to the lake if that's your interest.  ;)

Sites #28 and 29 on Duck Loop are premier locations but everyone knows that and unless you're extremely lucky there's no hope. But it is a big CG and I've always found a space. Plus the place is crawling with deer.

I have to agree, Topaz doesn't offer much except gambling and wind. The food was so, so,  the last time we tried it.

To the south, there is camping right along the Walker River or, as we prefer, drive south to Bridgeport and head west up to Twin Lakes, one of our favorite Sierra hideouts.

You didn't say when you are traveling. While the Alabama Hills are beautiful, they are at only 3500-4000' in altitude and can get very hot in the summer, 100+ degree hot.
You might want to pick a higher altitude campsite unless it's a fall trip.

And if Oh! Ridge is a bit too far,  the MeadowCliff  RV Park (now a KOA) is only about 10 miles further south of Topaz.  Nice restaurant for breakfast is open April - October.   Used it on a short first day on the road from Sacramento area.

Sue, if you are a AAA member, you might want to see if your local office has the Eastern Sierra Guide Map; this is part of the "Explorer" series. The map's description states: "Information on camping and points of interest from Lone Pine to Bridgeport." ; the map and its contents are an excellent, inclusive resource.

We recently drove through the Alabama Hills and checked out the USFS campground at Tuttle Creek. No services except pit toilets but we thought it was a place we would like to stay in the future. Nice view of My Whitney from the cg but as Larry said, it gets very hot during the summer months!

Thank you all for the great tips.

We’ve never been to Topaz Lake.  We’ll look at the alternatives you all mentioned.

We get to Lone Pine/Alabama Hills on June 7.  If it’s too hot, we’ll move on.

We’ll post some trip highlights when we get home.

We will be camping at Taboose Creek near Independence, CA. next week.  California US 395 between Inyokern,CA and Topaz, NV is one of the most spectacular high-ways in all the USA.   :)

We took your advice Steve and Larry… We skipped Topaz Lake and the Alabama Hill this month. Thank you both for your sound advice. We chose to spend more time with family and then stop in Morro Bay on our way back to Cardiff.
We had an amazing adventure – filled with beautiful sights, great music, time with friends and family, and inspiring hours enjoying our natural surrounds.

Below are just a few images from our trip (I could have included very similar Lassen photos to Lazy Bones 2’s, Manzanita Lake/Lassen, Subway Cave, and Burney Falls What's In Your Camera?, but there’s no need. Nice shots Cynthia!).
