At first, I used the blend recommended by Ford but decided that the amount of weight we haul around justified the full synthetic.Jim 1 Likes

They are not that much more expensive anymore.Mobil 1 5W-20 is less than $5.00 a quart at Walmart, so it isn't much more expensive than Ford's semi-synthetic 5w-20 oil.Synthetic motor oil can be run longer than conventional oil, if needed.Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle synthetic Automatic Transmission is $18 a gallon, at Walmart. A total flush (20-qts) will cost right around $100. Cheap compared to the $5000 cost of a remanufactured transmission.This is the fluid that our transmission was filled with when rebuilt by John WoodJohn Wood Automotive - Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid, 1 Gallon -...The rear axle fluid is filled with 75W-140 synthetic.https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/VAR982Larry

Mines due for a flush after my trip to Oregon next month and I think I'll look into this. According to records on my LD the original owner didn't flush and fill until 50k the first time which is a concern of mine so a little extra pampering at this point couldn't hurt.
