1991 22 RL? May 08, 2018, 03:34:58 am Apparently I've contracted a weird sickness that makes me do google searches for Lazy Daze to look at the interiors of the different models. Tonight I found an ad for a 1991 22RL. It does NOT show pics of the interior (why does anybody bother to advertise RVs without interior pics?!). I don't know what they are talking about. I searched the forum and found a thread in which HiLola mentions running into an LD owner 16 years ago (this forum is THAT old?!) with an older model LD that the owner said was a 1991 22' RL. Someone else on here said that was no possible based on the Chevy Chassis or something.Was there a 22' RL? And where can I satisfy my creepy obsession to look at the interiors of the various models? Is there any website that gives tours of LD interiors?? If not, why not? I'd also like to see any renovated interiors that show new upholstery, paint jobs or even (gasp!) reconfigured space.But for right now, what is a 22' RL? I've seen several people advertise 22' rear baths that are actually multi plans, so I'm wondering if by RL they really mean MP and think the sofa in back constitutes a lounge?Here's the ad:1991 LAZY DAZE 22RL 1 OWNER WITH LOW MILES LARGE REAR WINDOWS REDUCED PRICE...Lisa

The MP is just such a better layout. I mean, why put the bathroom sink in the shower when you can make it a table outside of the bathroom? Not sure if RL was an official Lazy Daze designation.And yes, the forum (in a few different formats) has been around that long!

Ignore the rest of this post if I'm wrong. There is a LD Caravan Club meeting at the Live Oak camp near Santa Barbara this month. Usually, LD clubs will set aside some time for an "open house", where members and wanna-bes can tour/view the various LD models. Other LD clubs usually sponsor these events as well. This is likely the best way to view various LD models AND get first-hand knowledge from owners all in one spot. 1 Likes

Well, I prefer not to step into the washbowl when I enter the rig, but everyone has different ideas of what makes a functional layout. The TK (Twin King, named such because the rear couches can be used separately as "sleepers" or pushed together to make one larger bed) does have the bath right behind the driver's seat, and, yes, the wash bowl is "in the shower". For some, this configuration is a deal-breaker; for me, it's an efficient use of space, and I find the TK layout to be open and "uncluttered". Understand that one-dimensional floor plans do not necessarily reflect the true "feeling" of a particular model. It's not at all uncommon for someone who has based their model decision on a graphic to decide that a specific floor plan is what they want, only to change their minds when they actually see and move around in the "3D" real thing. The best way to get an idea of which floor plans, former and/or still current, might work best for one's own situation is to visit as many models as possible, and the only way to do this is to go to a LD get-together. Since LD has downsized its floor plan offerings to two layouts per length, if ordering new, one obviously needs to focus on those models. Buyers of used LDs may have more choices of floor plans, depending on what's available on the used market. YMMV, as always.

When we bought our Twin/King back in 2004, the Rear Lounge floorplan was still available. I don't know if the factory will eliminate one of the couches and put in the chairs now, but you'd lose the storage that would otherwise have been under the couch.

Thanks for clarifying, Linda, as I wasn't sure. It looks like LD still offers the barrel chairs on the MB but not the TK. It never hurts to ask though, for those buying new and interested in that option.Mid-BathTwin-King

When I first looked at it I was all "why isn't there a bathroom sink?!"I didn't realize that this "rear lounge" is a twin/king. Where is the king part when there are barrel chairs? I have seen the ones with the two couches in back, and can understand that configuration, but the two barrel chairs don't really make sense to me. ut then I'm assuming they don't convert into anything. Do they?LisaStill a little confusion here, Lisa. The “rear lounge”is the same layout as a TK EXCEPT that one of the couches was eliminated and replaced by two barrel chairs. So, it’s no longer really a TK, but now a RL. Your MP is an entirely different animal. They’re all good for someone! — Jon

In 22' of space, you are often making a compromise someplace, like only having a dinette for seating or having a bathroom so small to be unusable. Just looking at the layout seems weird. You have your couch in back (in most cases, I believe, the whole deal with the multi plan is modular options) faces your bathroom. As mentioned, the vanity sink is outside the bathroom, with a hinged cover over the top. But, in 22' it gives you a comfy dinette, comfy couch, and a huge bathroom and shower. The shower stall is just wonderful. We love ours. It feels open and roomy, even with us, a baby, and two large dogs (115 lbs and 75). We have more storage sapce than we need in the cabinets.That said, the vanity sink is probably the biggest compromise. Because it functions as a nightstand with the cover down, stuff gets piled on it. The pile can deter you from using the sink unless you really want to.I think the MP layout is one of the best I have ever seen for a small motorhome.
