Table-top propane grill? April 30, 2018, 03:33:19 pm My good-old Weber table top grill is slowly dying. We have used the Weber extensively for 12 years and it still shows no rust , other than on the actual grill, in spite of being hung over the side of our little fishing boat to cook dinners for years. I think the regulator is giving up and Weber no longer stocks the grill or any parts. Grrrr... One of the many nice things about this little grill is that it fits into the outside compartments in the Lazy Daze. If I could find a usable regulator, I would swap it out quite happily.So what do the rest of you like for a table-top grill that also fits into the outside compartments on your Lazy Daze? We use our grill quite a bit on trips, so I would rather skip any junk that won't last a few years. Any suggestions?Harold

Reply #2 – April 30, 2018, 04:08:26 pm Like a whole lot of other people, I have a Weber Q1000; the grill works well, but it's a nuisance to carry in the rig because the lid and the base have to be separated to fit into the low compartments (9" at the opening and not a lot higher inside!) of my TK. (I suspect that all LDs have the same or similar space constraints.) I wanted a Napoleon "O" Grill; friends had one and were very satisfied with every feature; unfortunately, I didn't check the dimensions carefully of the one I ordered, and ended up with the O Grill with the 225 square inch grill surface instead of one of the smaller units, and since it was an "all sales final" deal, it is living in the garage, never used, and still in its plastic bag. About the same space with a small bag of charcoal, limiting in the fire season for sure, but I find it just as quick when permitted. I use an Eco-Que, the second coming of the Pyromid, but alas, has suffered the same fate and is no longer available.

Works and works and works.The Rear Kitchen has a “large storage bay” on the DS just behind the driver. It’s a couple feet high and about the same wide (each, give or take a few inches) with the forward foot plus of this compartment having the entire height and width with the plastic floor. The back foot plus is raised up. The Q JUST fits on this upper shelf which has heavy duty support. The lid goes in the front of the bay on top of leveling blocks and the usual bric-a-brac we all collect over the years. 🤣 Kind of a pain to have to pull it apart and put it together each use but oh well.Dave 2 Likes

Oh well, you got some great years with your little buddy.I also carry the Eco-Que/Pyromid, charcoal, wood chips...whatever. Folds super flat (about 1 1/2” thick) mine is the 15x15 “ model. Purchased the extra griddle to go with it. Very nice.I also carry the Coleman “Fold-N-Go” charcoal grill. They make a propane model as well. I also have the propane Camp Chef “Rainier” that is only a couple of inches thick. Fits nicely in the forward bay along with the Eco-Que.Good luck with your search. Yes, it's large and I have to carry it in the toad but what a wonderful job it does on most anything, including a whole turkey. Reply #9 – April 30, 2018, 08:24:03 pm The differences between the Q1000 and the Q1200 are that the 1200 has a temperature gauge in the lid and the fold-out “shelf” wings. The 1200 lid is also a bit over an inch *higher* than the lid on the 1000. But, yes, the 1200 is available in colors! 😉

Pretty large all-in-all and even so I set it up and it sat there unused for the week.There were no restrictions on charcoal fires so we opted to use the Eco-Que for outdoor cooking.When we got back home, I returned the Walmart unit. It was just too big to carry along. A little research later brought me to the Camp Chef “Rainier”. Very compact and works really well.Here are two YouTube videos extolling the Camp Chef. It arrived and I was surprised by how heavy and large it is, but remarkably, it fits into the bottom forward starboard outside storage bin with room to spare.Tonight we will grill chicken to see how well it works prior to hosting the whole fam-damily at Big Bear Serrano campground this weekend. Reply #20 – December 22, 2020, 09:26:41 am This is an old thread (and Harold may not see it as he posts less frequently now), but I can offer an insight on the Napoleon; I have this model in my garage, never used! The grill I have is now called a "Napoleon Travel Q". The Napoleon is well-made, but it's large, and it's heavy, particularly to drag it in and out of the TK's rear compartment; the grill's collapsible legs allowed it to fit in the 9" (opening) rear compartment of the TK, but the grill was so large, heavy, and awkward to handle that the initial stashing into the compartment convinced me that it would not work for me.225 square inches of grill space is great for cooking for 2 (lots of leftovers) to 6 or more people, but I found it way too much for a solo traveler. I did not pay close enough attention to grill size when I bought it. I decided on a Weber Q1000; it's a very good grill, it's lighter weight than the Napoleon, even with the cast iron grill surfaces in place, and its size is better for a solo or grilling for 2-4, but carrying it in a rear compartment required removing the lid and storing that separately. This took up a lot more space than I wanted to allot to a grill, so the Weber is the house grill.Now I carry a Pro-Iroda "O Grill 500"; the grill size is 165 square inches, more useful for solos or 2-4 eaters. 500M Portable Gas Grill - O-GrillThe grill is very well made, but, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available any longer. You might want to do an extensive search, but I suggest focusing on different options; these grills may be of interest.RV/Camping GrillsGRILLS | kuuma-productsThere are quite a few choices, of course, but I suggest checking the grill's specs and measurements to make sure that it will fit conveniently in the space you've planned for it.I still prefer to use my 30-year-old Pyromids, but these use charcoal; charcoal grills are prohibited in many state and forest camping areas in the west. (Note: Pyromid was originally manufactured in Redmond, OR; the small company [and the basic design] was sold a couple of times, the last to the manufacturer of Ecoque grills. This company is no longer in business, as far as I know. My current solution is to use my coleman 2 burner propane stove that I've had forever and a double burner grill/griddle pan to use on it. This seems to me the easiest to carry and it replicates the blackstone grill that all the youtubers are raving about. Also, I don't have to shell out the bucks for a new toy.Linda 2 Likes

I don't know which one that is, but the 'Go-Anywhere' model we have used for years is still current. I think parts are hard to get, but the grill is not expensive - we are on our second in about 25 years. For transport, we remove the burner with one wingnut, invert the lid into the base with everything inside, and it still takes up less room in an outside compartment than anything else on the market. Setup or teardown takes just a few minutes.Steve 1 Likes
